What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Hello World,

Welcome back to my blog. Here are my weekly highlights from 22nd-28th May 2023 and why I thought I should mention them.

This week didn't get off to the best start. First kick off the Monday (22nd May), I had a colleague at my day job complaining to me about learning lines whilst working. I don't want to name call them but I felt that they could've pulled me to one side to tell me instead of saying it out loud. This really urged my throat chakra to explode (if anyone doesn't know what that means, its a reference from a technique I learnt called the Lucid Body), but I decided now wasn't the time or the place as I didn't want to give the company a bad reputation.

A member of the management team called me into the office to explain the situation, and whilst they didn't let me off with a warning, but informed me to not let it happen again. They also mentioned to have on ear phone in when listening to music when the shop is closed. whilst i was abut cheesed off with it I could see why they want me to, as the company do have rules and regulations. So at least they didn't take away my love of music completely.

The rest of the day rattled my brain as even though I had a good movement rehearsal, I couldn't help but cry tears on the way back, as I was still masking who I was in front of my fellow actors and the comment being made that morning, it definitely got to me. However, I remembered that I was chosen for a reason, and one of the cast members said I was doing well, which gave me the confidence to carry on.

If that wasn't bad enough, I also had to change the date of a show I'm going to see with my friends from the Wednesday to the Saturday. And along with getting my sisters Birthday present that is something else that really pushed me over the edge. Thankfully it's all been sorted and we can't wait to see what it has to bring. This will also be a special trip as it'll be the last time I see one of my friends (who went to watch A Big Night Out which I mentioned in another blog) before he goes off on his travels.

Thursday 25th May was a ground breaking moment for me. This was the day I went on my first solo trip to Birmingham to watch the incredible "Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby". Wow. Wow. Wow. What a show it was. I was initially scared the night before, but I enjoyed myself so much, and it actually felt quite refreshing going on my first solo trip. I shall do another blog on my full review of the show soon, but just to give you an idea of how amazing it was, this video of me showing you how big Birmingham station is says it all.

I also managed to get back in time to watch the final of the Premier League Darts. Michael Van Gerwan won this and it is now 7 times he has won this event. A proper legend in the world of darts, and I know he has a lot more to give in many years to come.

Friday 26th I managed to have a day off work, which was definitely needed. But I also went to a rehearsal for Salad Days. Whilst Fridays are not doable for me rehearsal wise, because I had a day off I felt like I had to go. My main concern was being tired the next day, as I had an early shift at my supermarket day job the next day. But somehow I managed to pull through, and it's a perfect example of how sometimes you need to push through to do the things you love, which will need to come in handy for shoots at nighttime.

Saturday 27th was my Self-Care day after work. This was a time to relax and rejuvinate after an early shift at work, still being creative but not overdoing it. I finally managed to catch up on the final two recordings of Actors Expo (where even though I missed out a couple the technical faults were an issue, but I wasn't bothered if I didn't have time to catchup on them) and I've learnt so much from them, one of which was Arron Lloyd, where he got us to do the exercises as the seminar went on. This was more powerful as by doing it, I'm also learning. I also managed to finally post 2 of my short stories onto my Wattpad profile. These are the titles of them:

These two were part of a series where I tell my story of my final term of college during lockdown, and how I got sent guardian angels to help me through my troubles. I've come up to story 5 where I finish my show and I suddenly wonder "what now"? I did have plans to write a few more and finish the series up until the Christmas period, but then again I have other stories I'm planning to get finished and published. these include my trip to see Peaky Blinders: The Rise in London from my point of view, and my story based on me watching "A Big Night Out" in Nottingham. I can't say for definite when I'll finish them, but sometimes it's moments when you least expect it is where you find the inspiration and motivation just to write.

Finally, on Sunday 28th I had a little trip out into Nottingham to meet a friend for her Birthday drinks. It was a while until it actually started, so I had some time to kill in Nottingham, and then 2 hours later I saw everyone again. It was brilliant to see a lot of people, some I have met before, some I have seen online but never in person, and some who I have never met. One of the people I met was lovely and she's actually younger than she looks. all I can think about now is what the secret is to her youthful appearance. Among the people I was with there was someone who I performed alongside with at a showcase in Nottingham twice, and he's also going to see Salad Days, and its the performance where the show is nearly sold out. Whilst I am nervous about it, it's nice to know someone I know is going to be in the audience to support me.

And that rounds off my weekly update. I hope everyone enjoyed this Blog and stay tuned for more highlights and insight into my life very soon.

Until next time...

This is the Autistic Actress singing off :)
