Week Off Work, Getting Back Into Stories And Screening My First Short

Hello world! Welcome back to another blog! This week was my week off work, which allowed me to do stuff that I wouldn't normally get time for during my week where I work on my acting career and my day job. But this week was also the week where it was also where I premiered my short film! So without further ado, here is what I got up to this week!

Monday: to start the day I watched abit of The Adventures of Tintin. But it was soon interrupted by my dog barking at snowy. I mean it was only a cartoon, but at this point I feel she’ll bark at anything

I then made my way to the gym. Aside from missing one leg exercise I had a decent session in. And on the way there and back I managed to update my blog on access acquired and also sent off some more invites to my film. I know that even if it’s just family and friends I can feel proud of putting it on in public, I feel as though I need at least 1 acting creative outside of my team to come. But if it doesn’t it doesn’t and at least because it’s a film we can send them a copy of it. So either way they're not missing out on anything.

I then got back and applied for some acting jobs. I was going to attend an online session but then I realised that the times got mixed up. Whilst I was frustrated at first I turned it into a positive by continuing my Nottingham puppet festival blog and also just about finishing my access acquired blog. Now that was an achievement made as one of them needing to be done for a while and the other one needing to be done sooner rather than later. And as I’m writing this both of them after a few tweaks and moving around it some photos are on the verge of being published.

Whilst I was doing it I moved onto watching Britain's Got Talent. It had everything, from a choir singing a song about being who you are and not being ashamed, to a robot dog and balloon models of the judges. It also featured and aerialist who is coming to the end of her career and despite a condition she has she still achieves the impossible, along with a blind couple who are naturally funny but the act they did was a tear jerker in a good way. I was annoyed that it didn’t get a second golden buzzer (which yes it would be rule breaking but like with Musa Motha it was moments like this that deserved to be broken), but instead it went to someone who yes it was funny but was just silly. And if they win the show because of that I will be disappointed.

After lunch I listened to the first half of an Act On This podcast with showreel producer Chris stone. I know it’s the same information before but I need to retain it in order to gain showreel success. And with my film coming out this week and having an idea of what footage I’m using into it, this could not have come at a more perfect timing. I’ve already learnt so much so far as always and even got my directors hat on, so I can’t wait to continue it later in the week.

I then moved onto chatting to someone from the Nottingham playhouse after initially being told it was cancelled. But I got a lot of useful information about it, and that depending on after the film screening if I can get at least a work in progress piece done then it’ll enough for me even if I don’t get in or decide not to enter for the event (obviously due to overwhelm if I feel it).

I then moved onto getting back to more story writing. It’s been a while since I wrote something and I felt as though my week off was the perfect time to do it, not only to finish what I started but to also do something away from my acting career to separate the two nicely. And as I’m writing this two of my stories are ready to post. I just need to polish up my wattpad profile along with the plot and the objectives and then I’m all good to go.

I then walked my dog and did some surveys. And I got quite a lot of them done. I’m not sure if I’ll have enough for a payout yet but I’m proud of myself for even sitting down and doing some. I don’t think it was even scheduled either so that was a bonus.

I then watched Coronation Street from 6th and 8th May. I’m hoping that when Bernie says that Denny is off their back for good she meant it, and she was right to say that instead of spending time in court she wants to spend time with Paul with whatever he has left. And good on her for dogs doing the event in aid of Paul’s charity. And even though Maria is only trying to protect her son it’s abit harsh to spy on Gary and Maria. But maybe Gary only confided in Sarah because maybe he fears to take out his frustrations on Maria which I guess is understandable. Although possibly splitting up won’t be any good for Liam’s sake. I also know that George was trying to protect Glenda from making a mistake it looks like a war will commence after their fathers will is Read by both of them. I also wish Alya a brilliant time in Ireland as even though it means it won’t be love on the cards for her and Alya she’ll get an amazing opportunity. And with Sair Khan already on maternity leave and having her baby, I can’t wait to see how her new life as a mum will grow. And with regards to Bethany after finding out that the necklace Roy described wasn’t enough, she has every right to react to Daniels response when she saw Nathan again. Yes she admits that what happens with Ellie and Nicky was wrong she knows what she saw. Fingers crossed they can patch things up by the next episode.

I then watched episode 6 of Kin. This is the first time I saw Michael’s angry side, as after what’s happened with him and Anna when they met, it looks like he’s a risk of losing her forever. You also do not want to mess with someone like Amanda who threatened Kem about the car Viking used on a previous attack. And Eamon must’ve been poisoned or something when he took the class, and I wonder why Amanda was in his vision when he took the poison?

I then did some French whilst I checked my socials. And I must say it took longer than expected and that I got to sleep quite late because of it. But that won’t stop me from having a productive day tomorrow.

Tuesday: to start the day I watched episode 11 of One Day as it was only 20 minutes long this episode. This one saw dexter working in a job where it’s enough money to pay for his family. Although Sylvie is definitely struggling with parent life more than Dexter. And her affair with Callum is going to crush Dexter himself. But at least Emma was supportive of him for getting back on his feet.

I then made my way to the gym. I had a good session where I caught up on one of the leg exercises and managed to do some boxing. I also recapped the scripts which I prepped for last Sunday and also messaged my friend on what they’re about. So all I all a good start to the morning

After walking my dog I then recorded the tapes. Despite a slight technical glitch at the beginning I managed to get them done and noted down which takes were the best. Now all I need to do is look back at them and pick the best one from there. It was also nice to catch up with someone who I haven’t seen in ages, so at least I got to do that.

After filming I finished my Nottingham puppet festival blog (which you can read HERE) and watched episode 12 of One Day. I was right in that Dexter's break up with Sylvie would destroy him, and it’s a good job he visited Emma as I knew it would cheer him up. And a lot more than I thought after revealing they spent a previous night together.

During lunch I moved onto watching the penultimate episode of series 1 of Kin. And things are getting pretty tense. And despite Anna not being allowed to see Michael, she is still nowhere near safe! And with Amanda’s rage bubbling up even more after what happened to Anthony, she knows what she has to do. And I know that more than a kiss will come between Michael and Amanda, I can just feel it!

I then made my way to my acting class. This was an interesting session as we learnt about acting through a conversation on your phone and how we can make it into a performance we read some scripts and then did an exercise which I wasn’t ready for. But I liked it. He also mentioned about performing some kind of piece using this technique and also using the footage for our acting pages. But because I may miss out on one session to attend another event I’m going to I may not be able to do it. But hopefully after having a word with my teacher I can either still do the performance providing I catch up or film it at home for my acting page. We shall see.

I then moved onto watching Mondays addition of Doctors whilst I had dinner. We all need someone like Jimmi as I think what he suggested to help Scarlett’s is slowly but surely working. I also hope that Zara, bear and suni get the outcome they want, and Zara was even impressed with Suni and have proved her wrong, and that after Sid finds out why his patient keeps missing his appointments I can now see why he would think that way.

To round off the day I checked my socials from my acting account started to schedule the next day and learnt abit of French. I knew I wasn’t going to do a lot but those little bits in at a time surely did the trick.

Wednesday: To start the day I watched more of The Adventures Of Tintin. For once Margo hasn’t been barking, although because she’s in season again she’s bound to feel a little bit droopy. It’s abit like me when I’m on my female problems. But I know that they’ll pass eventually

I then made my way to the gym. This was a decent session getting some leg exercises and boxing in. Yes I had to do an alternative exercise back at home due to not having time to wait for someone to take what I was after but I was consistent and did it anyway which is what it’s about. After the gym I briefly recorded myself doing a scouse and American accent where I sent my cousin, who lives in Liverpool the clip to see what they make of it. So far it's so good, and I just need some feedback from her scouse friends before I re record it and post it onto my Spotlight profile.

I was going to do some French but for some reason the app had technical issue. So I simply did something else. This was noting some jobs on spotlight and applying for a day job. As I’m writing this I’m half way through and decided to do the rest after lunch and before I go out tonight. And Margo felt the same as seen below as applying for day jobs is very hard work!

I then finished the Act On This podcast with Chris stone. This was another showreel surgery and even though I’ve heard the points before, it was good to hear them again just so I can retain the information already given. I’ve also learnt a thing or two about location and how it can have an impact on the scene itself which was really fascinating. Overall I’m quite happy as a result and with me needing to update my showreel with my film coming out and needing some new headshots, this session could not have coke at a more perfect timing.

I then moved onto watching the final episode of series 1 of Kin. And what an episode it was. Viking has defiantly lost his mind, and what that’s cost for him and Nikita I’m not too sure. One things for sure though, is that Amanda has definitely turned into the dark side. And it’s moments like this where it just goes to show that not all people are born evil, but things happening into their life make them do things to escape from it all. But it’ll be interesting to see what happens in series 2 after Eamon's fate is sealed and Frank gets himself into a dangerous situation. I also wonder what the development between Michael and Amanda will be after jimmy knows that he thinks there’s a connection between the two.

I then moved into applying for a day job (which I did apply before but I’m hoping it’ll be second time lucky) and played some darts. But I had to give up pearly becuase I was getting frustrated with not finishing but also because I needed to get ready to go out. But I will get there. Just you wait and see.

I then made my way to Nottingham for my first amplify actors session. And I’m glad I did go as I got to meet new people and have a brilliant time overall. However after finding out the future of the space for this group I feel that I need to play my part to keeping this group alive where yes whilst I may not be here during the winter period, I still need to share it for those that do come. But all in all it was a really good session and I’ll definitely be back next week.

As I got back I checked my socials from my professional account whilst I scheduled the next day and did some French. It was a small session but just enough to keep the streak good after the technical issue happened earlier.

Thursday: To start the day I watched Mondays addition of Hollyoaks. It’s safe to say that Prince is quite traumatised about what Warren did to him. And after Mercedes tried to use the art of intimacy as an escape, the truth about what really happened has her hunting for revenge. And despite being pregnant with warrens baby, with the help of grace black she definitely wants him out of the picture. I was also surprised when Zain faked amnesia knowing how misbah betrayed him. But I think he’s now definitely on the warpath. And Dave is slowly falling back to his old ways after what happened with Lizzie, but hopefully the search for his granddaughter will give him a more positive outlook on life.

I then made my way to the gym. I did rehearse abit of some of my content I would be filming later on, but on the way there and back I mainly took in the fresh air and tired to live in the moment. Even if it was pouring with rain lol! And the gym itself was okay. I did struggled about due the upper body being the weaker part but I got it done and that’s what all that counts. I even did some boxing but only 3 minutes worth of it. But at least it was better than nothing.

For the rest of the morning after I got back and walked my dog, I applied for some acting jobs and made the dinner for tonight. It was an interesting experience to say the least as because we didn’t have all the ingredients it was going to be a ride. But I feel like me and my Nan did a good job of thinking quick on our feet as they looked pretty good even if the smell of fish did pick up quickly.

During lunch I watched the final two episodes of One Day. I’m glad that Dexter took the leap and started to turn his life around and it’s a good job he had Emma by his side. But come to the last episode he was literally on the rocks again. But I’m glad his friends and family were there to cheer him up. What Ian said in particular was eye opening even for me and whilst I didn’t get teary, as everyone did say the last episode was a tear jerker, it definitely made me feel something.

In the afternoon I started by recording some of my pieces for my acting page. I was quite impressed with myself as despite starting late it left me some spare time to do the next task which was my story. As I’m writing this I’m just in the stages of making a cover page and looking at the title, and then it’ll be ready to post. This was then incorporated by deleting some stuff off of my phone which I feel he helped with regards to storage.

As the evening came I checked my socials and watched Coronation Street from 10th May. I feel that George went abit too far when he brought up the robbery to Glenda, but it was a good job that Michael came to support her, and we all need a friend like him in these times of need. And after overhearing Gary and Maria about their relationship, maybe it needed to happen for Liam as now the family is stronger than ever. I’m also touched that Gemma gave all of those positive comments on Bernie when she was having a dip, but after seeing spoilers on Facebook about what’s next things may get abit overwhelming for her. But she’s not the only one on a mission as Bethany manages to track down Nathan and with abit of help from Daniel she gives him a piece of his mind. And finally on the subject of Leanne and the institute, the “supplements” she’s taking have gone abit too far.

To wind off the evening I watched most of the premier league darts whilst I had my tacos as seen above. This was one of the rare occasions where I can have a full night off to watch it and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect timing with it being the play offs next week. I also did some colouring in and scheduling whilst I watched it and boy what a match it was. You can tell how much it meant to Michael smith when he secured his spot in the play offs but also showed some good sportsmanship to Nathan Aspinal, who he's also close friends with away from the match. And that 132 checkout in the quarter finals was off the chart.

I then finally did abit of Korean. This was just some recaps of what I’ve learnt for 30 minutes as the exercise in French is still not working. But I’ve decided I will contact the team at Duolingo tomorrow to see if they can sort the problem out.

Friday: To start off the day I watched Tuesdays instalment of Hollyoaks. Zain was definitely not pleased when Misbah and Donny got too involved again, and I think his plan to make Misbah see that he already knew about the kids as backfired. I just hope he’s okay. I’m also still annoyed that Nancy hadn’t clocked JJs behaviour after the events of the last episode, but Frankie’s plan to make sure he doesn’t go into his room puts Morgan in danger, and after seeing spoilers the consequences aren’t great. Mercedes is definitely a chef the war path after warrens actions, but I wonder what grace has in stall for her when it’s done?

I then did some yoga. I was going to go to the gym but because of the nerves kicking in I decided to do something that all help relax me more. And I was right to do so. This was then followed by walking my dog.

The morning was quite productive to say the least. This included starting learning a script for class whilst I repainted my nails followed by applying for some more acting jobs. I’ve also posted my Access Acquired blog which you can now see the link for here: https://www.theautisticactress.com/post/access-acquired-the-weekend-that-made-the-arts-accessible

I then moved onto some surveys. I wasn’t going to at first but I managed to find some spare time to do so. And I’m gradually making this a permanent side hustle and that way focus more on my acting career.

I then watched Tuesdays Doctors whilst I had my lunch. I’m so pleased that Scarlett passed her driving test, but there are bigger problems when Bear receives a photo breaking patient confidentiality. And I’ve never seen him this angry out of all my times I’ve seen the show. And Suni has a day to remember when an old man gets scammed by someone who he mistakenly trusted but has now nearly ruined his life.

To kick off the afternoon I turned to one of my stories. As I’m writing this I’m on draft 3 of one that I needed to look back on, and just as an experiment I’m doing two versions. One where it’s in third person and the other in the first person just to see what it feels like for the reader.

I then made a start on the recent act on this podcast. This was very different to the usual sessions as it was with Hollyoaks Director and on set acting coach David Crowley, and he showed us how to use different techniques to develop a character. And so far like the last session with him I’m intrigued as normally they do podcasts from a business perspective so it’s great to have one where we go through the process of building up a character. I can’t wait to watch the rest of it l next week!

After tidying my room (where I felt so much better for it and it looked better too), I then had a visit from my Nan. She was about to go away for a week so having her here made it really nice. And it’s moments like this where I like to make lots of memories.

I then watched Wednesdays addition of Hollyoaks. It looks as tough Carter wants revenge for what happened at pride and after seeing spoilers it’s about to get heated for John Paul. And Nancy is possibly going through the worst period of her life all over again, and after JJ blamed Oscar for Frankie’s mess, I wonder what will happen next. I also know that Marie was only trying to do something nice for Joel and Leela, and that they have an idea of their own. And Zain is literally bottled with fury, so much so that if he carries in I feel that Misbah will gradually leave him.

To help me wind down I watched episodes 4 and 5 of Boarders whilst I had my tea as seen above. Episode 4 tested the gangs loyalties, especially Omar, as even though he was trying to be a good person to Rupert, and even ditching. A potential love interest because of it, that backfired by episode 5 when he went through a horrid situation. I also felt bad for Beatrix after Jaheim met Maliki back in his hometown and he took out his frustrations on her, but I think he managed to redeem himself after a tactic to win the challenge they have at the school. And I must say I loved Leah’s personality when she spoke he mind with Koku. I don’t know how this will impact her friendship with Mabel, but I’m hoping by the last episode things will be cool with them.

The final thing I did was checking my socials and learning abit of French’s I decided to skip onto the next unit as I still couldn’t get the next game on. So I thought I’d move on because as it was on one game it won’t matter on this occasion.

Saturday: Saturday was a big one for me… it was the day of the premier. But I needed to relax before the evening itself.

So to start the day I watched Wednesdays episode of Doctors. The mother of her pregnant daughter in law was abit harsh, but maybe she was treated in a certain way and therefore passed it onto her family. But obviously it didn’t go down with her daughter in law or husband after what happened to her son, but with the help of Ruhma I think they’ve managed to find a common ground and set some boundaries. And after the breach of confidentiality in the last episode gave Paige a serious wake up call, but thankfully it didn’t affect the decision of the campus. And Zara may have finally found the answers to the partnership.

I then did some yoga. This was definitely needed as like yesterday the nerves were kicking in. And I even did it outside which I think played a massive part and also nature has its ways of calming me down.

I then did some French where I got access to Super Duolingo. Now I can correct any mistakes made and so far I’ve completed all my mistakes in Korean and fingers crossed I’ll gradually get the rest done too. This then moved onto an actors alphabet. And so far once again I’m learning so much and after Julie saying herself that you don’t need to go to drama school to be famous and that all bodies should be seen and heard it just goes to show what kind of person she really is and that is a really lovely lady. I can’t wait to read more later.

Whilst I went to the shop to get my sandwich for later on I carried on with learning lines. As I’m writing this I’m half way through the script with only abit to go. So overall I’m pleased with myself and that I can get this learnt by Tuesday.

During lunch I watched the final episode of Boarders. Even though Jaheim had a huge achievement he definitely didn’t handle it well with the rest of the scholarships. But after a chat with Bernard about not having a certain teacher here it definitely caused chaos. They’ve also managed to fix their broke friendships outside of the group but I wonder if they’ll be a second series when someone they hate is the replacement for head teacher.

This then moved onto doctors. It was so sweet of Paige when complementing did after their shopping trip was halted by a bipolar patient. But I wonder what he’ll do now after she mentions marriage and kids? I also praise bear for apologising for his behaviour towards Luca, and Luca even managed to get Scarlett to drive by himself.

I then decided to make a start of getting ready for the evening. This included straightening my hair whilst I listened t the first part of an act on this broadcast. A good form of self care and education after a tiny bit of a wobble. But then again this is the reality of a neurodivergent creative and what we go through internally. But I know I can use this to my advantage as it shows that I care.

After pampering my hair I watched Thursdays addition of Hollyoaks. I can’t believe JJ is still torturing Frankie and I’m surprised that Oscar didn’t pick up on it sooner. But I’m hoping that her application to a dance school will help her have a fresh start. and you know what I don’t blame Vicky for saying what she said to her dad about what happened with Misbah, but I wonder if she’ll keep her word when she diabetes the full truth about Donny’s marraige. And I have a feeling after seeing spoilers Leela and Joel’s wedding which was supposed to be a secret won’t be a secret for long. And even though Misbah and Zain have put their differences aside I still feel that she’s still not feeling it with him, and with Jonas Khans exit announced following the recent changes on the soap, I hope they don’t kill him off.

I then did my makeup whilst I watched some YouTube. Like with the broadcast earlier this helped calm me down and got me in a state of peace ready for the evening. And we all need a dose of the chuckle brothers when we have a down moment. This was then followed by walking my dog, and she was a big help in calming my nerves.

It was then time… the screening of Unmasked! And I’ll be honest it went better than expected. According to my dad, there were 35 people that came in, and so it was a good turnout. I’m also so pleased that my film has now been previews and it’s time to see where it can go from there. As I’m writing this now it’s also possibly going into the category for educational film, where it may need abit of tweaking but ink worth a statistic. But all in all I can’t wait to take this film to festivals to see where it goes.

As I got back I was still wide awake so I spent some of the evening watching the rest of the Adventures of Tintin. It honestly brought back so much nostalgia and it’s a shame that they didn’t make any sequels. But it was a good way to finish off a brilliant evening.

Sunday: to start the day I watched the first pet it Britain's Got Talent from last night. So far this featured opera ventriloquists, a young dance group dressed as the trolls, a K Pop band, an autistic comedian and a couple who did magic and I’m still wondering how they did it. They even had snippets of people from the older generation and a group of dancers who got Bruno’s second golden buzzer, and also broke it in the process lol! Yes he may have broken the rules again but when he mentioned why he did what he did I do get it as they remind him of a younger version of Bruno. It was abit like Musa Motha as even though all the judges broke the rules its moments like that where the rules deserved to be broken, and this dance group was the same.

The day was quite a chilled one, as with me going back to work tomorrow I need all the rest I can get. So I started by walking my dog and gathering some day player roles and scenes from Hollyoaks and Doctors. As I’m writing this I’m officially up to date with both of them, and I’m pleased that not only did I discover new talent and scenes, but I also cleaned the tv planner in the process. I also posted my short story which I've been meaning to do for a while. And I'm quite proud of myself. Please see the link to the story here: A Night of Acceptance - Lucy Moon - Wattpad

During lunch where I had some delicious gnocchi, I watched the rest of Britain's Got Talent. I skipped the first two acts as I didn’t really think they were that good (although the sexy jugglers I could maybe get away with) but the opera singer really caused some carnage. But I’ll be interested to see how the last set of auditions go!

This then moved onto learning my lines for Tuesday. As I’m writing this I’ve finally got the whole script learnt. All I need to do now is recap my given circumstances and objective and then I’ll be prepped by Thursday. This then moved onto drafting out my new story. Whilst it’s not squeaky clean, I managed to draft 90% of the first edit done, so next week I’ll make some time to finish it off and separate it into chapters before I make the edits needed and expand on certain sections if I need to.

To start winding down for the day I brain dumped next week as always whilst I listened to the final part of an act on this broadcast and removed my nail varnish. As I was going back to work tomorrow to avoid cross contamination I can’t have my nail varnish on anymore. It was a shame as I loved having them on and it’s been ages since I painted my nails. but even though I plan to leave my current day job I still need to respect the rules and regulations.

I then did some yoga. I was a little bit late starting yes but I managed to get it done and within the outdoors as well which made it even more magical. I then walked my dog and applied for some more day jobs. Initially I wasn’t going to but because I needed to shut down my laptop anyway I might as well do it. And I was pleased I got it done when I did.

This then moved into watching Fridays instalment of Hollyoaks. It was great to see Charlie again and it was very kind of him to offer some money to Frankie to fix her ballet shoes. But I just hope it doesn’t let JJ take advantage of her even more and I do hope someone finds out about what he’s been doing to her. And I’m glad that Dillon and Lucas are getting on the right track, and their moment together was what we all needed. but I don’t think it’s the same for John Paul, but I know that if Gareth disobeys Carter, then he’ll be punished too. And I wonder if kitty is hidden in the house John Paul tried to get in to? And I can’t believe that Leah if all people is the one spreading hate to Freya, and my guess is it’s not going to go down well when the truth is revealed.

Soon afterwards I watched Mondays episode of Coronation Street. Yes Bethany shouldn’t have gone through Adams office but it may have worked in Dee Dees favour as a typo in some of the texts may be linked to the murder case and it may be good news for Roy. And even though George gave Glenda the money she needs she’s still not backing down from suing him for her late fathers will. And Bernie is literally using every ounce of energy into finding her long lost son, who ACTORS NAME FROM HOLLYOAKS really made his character known. And after reading an article on his character I can’t wait for it to see how it develops. Also I can’t believe that Nick is boutons into Rowan's theories and techniques but I know for a fact that Toyah won’t give up.

To finish off the day I checked my socials and did some languages. I managed to correct all my mistakes in French and recapped a few Korean words but I’m pleased that I did that. I also spent some extra few minutes working to get more boosters for the table, where I’m hoping I make it into the next league.

What have I learnt this week if you put your mind to something, work hard and be patient it’ll all lay off. And I hope my film this week has done just that!

See you soon for another blog! Until next time…
