Hello world! Welcome back to another blog! In this blog I will be taking you through my review of Midnight Dancer, which I saw at The Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham on 16th March 2025!

This brilliant show was Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kuzmin's first solo tour, telling a story of love through a Cinderella style genre. Normally I’m not one for dance shows due to not really understanding the story, but after watching Strictly Come Dancing again properly since 2023 and Nikita being my favourite professional dancer, I could not miss this opportunity. And because my Nan is also a huge fan of strictly and Nikita also being her favourite, I used this opportunity to get a ticket for her as a present for her 80th birthday back in October! And she definitely enjoyed it!

Nikita is literally a living legend! I mean, is there anything that this man can’t do? I don’t know what area he specialise in, but all of the different dance styles he displayed made it look like child’s play, when I know for a fact that it really isn’t. With someone like Nikita, you also got to see two sides to him. The first side being a quirky, cheeky and funny side (and I’ll mention some examples later on), but we also got to see a vulnerable side. I won’t say specifically just incase those reading this are yet to see him, but what I will say is that it’s moments like this where even those at the highest profession do also have some vulnerability to them, which is something I think we all need to see and feel reassured of! But as well as having a playful side, I was so amazed on how committed he is to what he loves. And as soon as he’s in dance mode, his mindset changes completely! A living legend I would say!
The other dancers in the show also helped elevate the insane display of art in the room. One of which was Nikita's leading lady Andrea Toma. She was wonderful, and fitted the role of the female love interest very nicely. I also loved her chemistry with Nikita, and it clearly showed throughout the entirety of the story. The other dancers who made up his show were also effortless in what they do. Two of which were Seamus McIntosh, who played the villain in the show, and the costume he wore really brought it to life, and Tom Charles, who was popular with the audience. But I’ll let you watch it for yourself to see why that is. Rebecca Lisewski provided the vocals to add to the routines. Wow, what a voice she has! You can she has done it before, as it looks so effortless when in fact I know it’s more difficult. And she’s not a bad mover either, but her vocal’s definitely complemented the routines very nicely!
The songs in the show are literally to die for! I won’t reveal what songs because as mentioned before I don’t want to spoil it for those who are yet to see him, but here are some hints as to what I heard. These featured a Tina Turner classic, a cowboy musical hit, Moulin Rouge and Christina Aguilera earworms, a beautiful version of an arctic monkeys tune, and a song which brought me back to my college days when I did my end of year show. All of this really helped tell the story, and how each song fitted in with the different dance styles, and the emotion they represent. The costumes as well also added to the flavour of each genre and tone of the song. From bright colours in upbeat songs, to simplistic outfits during emotional tunes, and to elegant dresses and suits to the more romantic melodies. It really had it all!
Between each segment of the story, they used a clapper board to say when they’re in and out, which I thought was quite nice. And during the talking moments, that was when we got to see Nikita's personality abit more. These included British sayings (which as an autistic individual, I do relate to), questions from the audience, and one moment where all I can say are three things to describe it! A song by Tom Jones, Nikita wearing one of his many brilliant costumes, and him asking for a certain audience member! And if you have seen the heart rate challenge on Love Island, then it's kind of like that. That’s all I can say for now lol!
I don’t really think I have any downsides to it as the whole thing was nicely put together. But I think the only things were that there were no programs (but maybe it was something beyond their control), and also the fact I couldn’t meet him before or after the show. This was a real shame but at the same time it was one of those things where it wasn’t possible as I had to be up early for what people would call “a proper job”, but also even though I felt I managed to get it all out of my system, I didn’t want to pass on the last few bits of my cold to him (as the last thing he needed was to be ill for the rest of the tour). But I know that if I at least show him support on social media, that’ll be enough! And I got abit of merchandise as well, so at least that’s a bonus.

Overall I would give the show a full house! It was sexy, it was energetic and it had me up on my feet at the end. And if it would’ve been in Nottingham longer, I would've paid to see it again!
And that was my review of midnight dancer! Let me know your thoughts of the show if you’ve already seen it! And if you haven’t seen it, here is the link to the rest of the tour and where you can catch him!
See you soon for another blog. Until next time…
This is The Autistic Actress signing off :)
