TV Recommendations 2

Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. It's been a while since I published the first one, but here are 3 more TV recommendations that I have been watching through May-June 2023.

A Town Called Malice:

My first recommendation for this blog is A Town Called Malice, a show casted by Daniel Edwards set in the 1980s, some in London but most of it in Tenerife.

This show stars many names including James Fleming, who plays Albert Lord, and Jack Rowan, who plays Gene Lord, and throughout the series as stated on IMDb, After narrowly surviving a gangland battle, Gene and his formidable girlfriend Cindy (Tahirah Sharif) flee to the Costa del Sol, Spain to evade arrest and find themselves embroiled in the local underworld, desperately trying to avoid trouble.

I loved this show for many reasons. Full of drama, surprises and an awesome soundtrack, with music from the 80s. And it’s safe to say I can’t get Call Me by Blondie out of my head. Lol! Yes this is a show which I don’t see myself in yet, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this watch. As maybe it won’t help me excel in my acting career (other than the witnesses which I see myself as), but this show in particular gave me my reason as to why I want to pursue this path as a full time career. And that is to take the audience on a journey, to help them feel, and to grab a hold of them to be a part of that journey. And to also help me feel free. I would give this drama a solid 4 and a half out of 5. The reason being is that after the ending (which I won’t give away), I just want more and hope there's a second series.

Queen Charlotte:

My second recommendation is Queen Charlotte, and this was another favourite of mine.

This was casted by the lovely Kelly Valentine Hendry (who I met through Act On This), and a show definitely worth the watch. This told the story of how a Young Charlotte became Queen of Great Britain and how King George became ill. This show also goes back in time, flitting in and out between the past and the present (the events after series 2 of Bridgerton), where Queen Charlotte urges her children to produce a new heir to the throne, after her eldest daughter died in childbirth along with the baby.

Just like the original Bridgerton series, I love this show for many reasons. The era it’s set, the outfits, the accents and the fact that it includes cast members from all different backgrounds in an era where it would not be acceptable, and that is a brilliant touch. I must say, in some moments there were some surprises. Just like one of young lady Danbury’s lovers and also her getting saucy with young Violet's father Lord Ledger. I knew that it would happen based off of the tension (as sometimes you just know the feelings between 2 characters), but also couldn’t believe what I was seeing myself. I won’t give too much away, but if you’ve seen seen series 1 and 2 of Bridgerton before this, then you’ll know what I mean. And a surprising secret from Violet herself, but I'll let her tell you for herself. All in all, a brilliant watch and I can’t wait for series 3 of Bridgerton to begin.

Waterloo Road:

My final recommendation in this blog is Waterloo Road. Casted by the brilliant Michelle Smith, this classic came back for a whopping 11th and 12th series, starring Angela Griffin as the headmaster of the well-known school in Manchester.

Not only does this show fit my casting type (as even though I’m 23 I can get away with being younger), but the topics this show covers are so vital and must be taken seriously. These include supporting those who need that extra help, like Kelly-Jo’s (played by Alicia Forde) ADHD, adoption, which included the pressure Mike (portrayed by Ryan Clayton, who was fantastic in Coronation Street and gave a insightful podcast on Act On This) and Joe (portrayed by James Baxter), felt when their foster sons’ mum came back into their life, and also the dramatic ending and how the school came together through that adversity. I don’t want to give anything away in fear of spoilers, but the finale had to be the best one of them all, and Liam Scholes’ (aka Noel McMarcus) voice was the most surprising one of them all, which then helped the school come together.

All in all a really good show, and with the next season coming soon along with 2 further seasons being greenlit, I may or may not get that chance to be on that show very soon.

And those are my recommendations for this blog. More will be on the way very soon, so keep your eyes peeled...

See you soon for another blog. Until next time…

This is the autistic actress signing off :)
