Turning a Quarter of a Century, Film Festival Update & Being At One With Wildlife!

Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. As I post this addition of weekly highlights, we will have entered a new month and I shall be the rip old age of 25 (which I know is not old old but boy it does feel scary), but I'm ever so grateful for getting to this milestone for many reasons. It definitely made Margo tired as seen below lol! And I shall tell you now, as I take you through what I got up on the week commencing 24th February 2025!

Professional:

Acting Class:

This week we started the process of filming the scenes with both actors on camera. I feel mine went well, and with the direction from my teacher on the relationship between mine and my scene partner’s character really did help. Overall I’m proud of myself for getting it done and I can’t wait to post it on my socials for everyone to see. But before class, I managed to have a drink with some of my fellow workshoppers. It was great to catch up on days like this, as its not very often we do that. But I'm happy that I got the chance to meet everyone and have abit of downtime before class!

Film Festival Update:

This week I got a motivation to say that Unmasked has been selected to show at a film festival in Beeston! This was an exciting moment, and a chance to show what I’ve worked really hard on to those that have come to see it! Fingers crossed this will open some doors to more opportunities in the future.

Acting Jobs:

This week I applied for more jobs on Spotlight and Mandy, and I even got sent a tape from one of them! This was great as even though it wasn't alot, anything was better than nothing. Fingers crossed I hear something back from it!

Passion Show:

This week I developed my presentations and also started the first run of Act 1 of the event. I suddenly realise how much I'm out of my depth here, but with time and practice I will have the confidence to deliver a good presentation, whilst also displaying some brilliant talent in act 2. I just hope we get more people to come in person, so if you're interested in seeing my event, here is a link to mu JustGiving page where you can make your donations and state your attendance.

Content:

With International Woman's Day coming up soon, I managed to film a monologue from a show which I think fits the day. I won't say what but lets jut say its from a very popular Netflix show. But it's a piece I've been wanting to do for a while, so I can't wait for you all to see it!

Act On This:

First TV Role Fast Track:

This week was the week I got back to this course on how to get my first tv credit. And I’ve learnt a lot in this module. I won’t say what but after going through it in depth, I know what questions I need to ask Ross and Petch linking to it next week!

Diarmuid Goggins:

This week I managed to watch the podcast with director Diarmuid Goggins. This was a good one as it was all about how I get on his radar and also about how to keep your mental well-being in tact. So overall I’ve learnt so much, and after needing to email Ross and let’s about a query I know I’m going to reach out again!

Coronation Street:

This week I caught up on episodes from 17th and 18th February. I can understand jacks fears and why he didn’t come to say goodbye to Kevin before he went to the hospital, and it was a good job Abi was there to help him when he needed it most. But she has her one battles to fight after yet another PTSD flashback. But I’m glad Debbie was able to get her an assessment sooner rather than later, and I do feel for Kevin when he wishes he could’ve helped. Debbie on the other hand made sure that Kevin’s main priority is to rest. But there’s more drama on the cobbles. After helping Lou’s husband Mick and having a steamy moment on their sofa, Gemma and Chesney are yet for more drama when their music disrupts George. And I feel George may be the next target on their backs. Maxs luck is also running out when his bail gets denied, and David smashing up nicks restaurant isn’t helping. But an offer from Andy May land him into more trouble, and David’s plan to get max moved to Scotland has not hit well with max. And given paddy bevers exit from the cobbles soon, I hope he at least makes it out alive. Finally, Carla was in for a ride when Mandy took her away and rob got his revenge. But a revelation from Mandy led to rob being throne from the stairs and then on the run, with Lisa also being questioned about it. But I hope Bobby doesn’t fall under robs spell when he contacts him. I also watched it from 19th February. Whilst Kevin was recovering from his surgery (with the odd joke every now and then as it’s times like this you need to find abit of humour), Abi was delighted to see Roy before her therapy session. And I think seeing him has helped her continue her therapy journey, which in turn will help her support Kevin. It’s a good job we have Roy Cropper to turn to! Todd and Billy were also encouraged by Debbie to attend her singles night. I do get why Billy had to leave, as I know he cared so much for Paul. But Bernie and kit were right to let him know that Paul would want him to be happy, so I hope the next angles might he would give it another chance. Todd on the other hand after walking in on George and Eileen in the taxi office (which yes woke be embarrassing but also funny), managed to have success in his singles night when meeting someone new (and we’ll done to Act On This member Nick Dutton for making Todd swoon). It was also a nice surprise to see Julie, Eileen’s sister. But after seeing spoilers, she is hiding a shocking secret! It was also a good job Ryan was able to stop Bobby from falling into robs trap, but it only made it worse when the police loose him, and I do get Carla’s frustrations. But when he spoke with Betsy about it, I do understand why he did it, but what rob sent to him confirms that he is out for revenge. Steve is also too blinded by love to notice that Cassie actually brought two air fryers to notice what she’s really doing, but after seeing spoilers she’ll soon be caught out! Finally, Daisy and Jenny are still on the hunt to give Carla the money needed for her transplant, but Daniel asking her about the dna results aren’t helping. But Jenny may have made things worse when Daniel thinks she knows who the dad is! I dread to think what will come next.

Hollyoaks:

This week in the village we saw revenge plans, shock accusations and murder suspicions. Mondays addition saw Darren and Nancy have a positive update on Oscar. But that didn’t stop them from Kats lie. And whilst I get Nancy's reasons of past events, I don’t want it to be the end for them again! Ste is also unsettled where after struggling to find his cat, he finds something disturbing in the allotment. Finally, Grace is literally seething after discovering Freddie and Vicky's secret, but not before she revealed the truth about her setting up being shot at Christmas so that Freddie can get away from Mercedes. But after Robbie goes on board with graces plan for revenge, a chat with Maxine and a note from Freddie has left him with second thoughts, but it might be too late, as whilst it’s thought that she’s going away, Grace and Rex will have other ideas. Tuesdays episode saw Darren try to get Kat to tell the truth after a failed attempt to go to the police, but after Nancy makes her decision about their future when Oscar gets home, an arrest for yet another accusation does him no favours at all. Maxine is also devastated when she finds out digest real motives. but after telling Liberty, DI banks overheard everything, and grace may have used Maxine to her advantage. But she’s not the only person she has targeted. As Robbie is getting increasingly suspicious on Vicky, refusing to believe she has gone with Freddie. Finally Martha may have said too much again after Ste confides in Cleo on how Jeremy may have put a deadly end to his care about digging out Abe's watch. Wednesdays episode saw Ste once again accusing Jeremy of killing the cat. And after an initial reunion, Ste could sense that something is not right, and I wonder if John Paul will start to believe it too? Also after Kat leaves the village under the order of Rex, Frankie also made the decision to move in with Lucas and Dillon, but a truth from Dillon and some stolen goods leads Lucas to a decision about Rex. And speaking of Rex, he and grace tried to trick Maxine into seeing the undercover cop, mistakenly leading them to Robbie. With Maxine thinking he stood her up, little does she know the kind of things that grace and Rex have actually done to him…

Eastenders:

Following a brilliant 40th anniversary week, the square was literally rocked by the events last week. Stacey list of all, and after chatting with Sonia (who broke the news to bex over the phone), she finally told the truth to her children. It’s not nice but the sooner they knew the better. Ruby was convinced it’s her fault Martin was dead, but Zak reassured her that if Ruby was in there he would’ve done the same thing, even if he doesn’t love her as much as Stacey. There’s also tension at the Beales, as even though Kathy didn’t care what would happen if Cindy handed her into the police, Ian thought otherwise, knowing how much of an impact Martin had on the community. I hope his offer to Cindy will be enough to keep Kathy away from the police. There’s also tension between the Mitchell’s following Phil’s trip to rehab, but Sharon managed to convince grant to see Phil after admitting his scared he was. But Phil on the other hand isn’t that keen to have grant by his side (and a comment from Bianca didn’t do Grant any favours either). Finally I do get why Denise said to Jack to not let slip about their relationship yet, as she knew everyone needed time to grieve. Tuesdays episode saw Denise tell the family that she and Jack are back together, and it’s safe to say they’re all happy for them, with Chelsea revealing she’d be happy either way after mentioning her history with grant (which I didn’t even know about). the Mitchell’s are also at loggerheads following Phil’s hospital admission. And with Nigel now also on the verge of cutting off from grant, Linda was there to reassure him that Phil still cares for grant. And I wonder if they’ll be a romance between the two of them? But he may have more worries when he overhears Nigel telling Yolande on his dementia? Stacey is also putting on a brave face for Ruby when she asks about martins last words. I do get why she lied though as the last thing Stacey needs is another argument. And eve was right to suggest to Stacey to help Ruby with the funeral. Finally, Cindy made it clear to everyone she is leaving, but something tells me that this isn’t the last time we hear of her… Wednesdays episode saw Stacey help Ruby organise martins funeral, although lily made it clear that it was about all of them. But when she overhears Stacey telling Eve on what Martin really said the night he died, something tells me it won’t be a secret for long. I was also glad when Johnny was there to help Bianca when she had a panic attack following seeing the dollhouse that was in the basement she was trapped in. And after overhearing Nigel’s truth, Grant is feeling all sorts of emotions, and Nigel made it very clear on why he didn’t tell him sooner. Sharon also is feeling abit snappy following her being discharged from hospital, leaving teddy feeling helpless. But harry was actually right for once when he told him to give her some space, knowing she’s grieving Martin. But that may not be the best idea when she falls into the arms of grant after talking about past memories. Finally, Thursdays episode saw the memorial for Martin take place at Harry’s Barn. But Lily couldn’t help but reveal the truth to Ruby, but yet Stacey still manages to keep it to herself and lie, not wanting to cause drama. Bianca was also in another spot of bother after another panic attack. But I’m just thankful grant was there to help her. And they managed to put the past behind them. Which is just as well as Grant decided to leave Walford again after a one night stand with Sharon, who made it clear that it needs to be kept quiet for the sake of Phil. And after some initial frustration, he can see why as Grant saw in Phil’s eyes that his breakup with Sharon took a massive toll on him. And despite a tempting offer, Nigel decided to stay put, but I wonder if his dementia gets worse will Grant make another return? But one thing I do know is, Harry is suddenly turning very wise when teddy wonders what to do with Sharon.

Missing You:

The last two episodes of this thrilling drama never cease to amaze me, with an unexpected twist at the end. The penultimate episode saw Aqua tell Kat her reasons behind attacking Brendan, but it’s clear that she’s still abit traumatised. Stacey has also let slip on her secrets from Kat, and her encounter with Josh. But after some digging and dining out some new information linking to the dating site, it looks like Titus is also gunning for Kat now. It was Dana’s chance to escape, but I hope she’ll make it out alive. Finally, after some help from Charlie (which stagger is clocking onto), a visit to see Calligan (where her kidnapping her is not the best way), and a encounter with a friend of her mums, the case to her looking for answers may be there when Josh himself makes an appearance! The final episode was thrilling! After Kat finally finds Josh, Staggers reason for not telling Kat the truth is understandable but also frustrating from her end as everyone but her knew. And after a tense showdown with Titus, Brendan and Dana are now safe thanks to Kat. Calligan also managed to find Parker for Kat, and I was not expecting who the person was, and the secret Clint was hiding all this time. But just when Kat has found her happiness again with Josh back in her life, even I was shocked to discover the real reason behind Clint’s death. And it all makes sense why aqua was frightened for her life. And why stagger kept it to himself. Even though there’s no second series as it was based off of the novel, I have a feeling Kat and Josh will work it through somehow.

Playing Nice:

The final episode of this thriller was left me on edge. It was clear that miles had influenced Theo against there and Maddie, and after the first few days in court, the appearance of Edith sent shockwaves and left miles very uncomfortable. And her appearance made Lucy brave enough to send some footage of miles feeding the cannabis gummies to Theo. And after a horrid trick by miles and a visit from Maddie, Lucy finally had the courage to phone her and explain how the baby switch worked and why she did it, which was very heartbreaking. But in the end, Miles’ dismiss was possible the best thing that’s happened, and that I’m glad Pete and Maddie were able to forgive Lucy and live a happier life for both boys.

G'Wed:

The final two episodes of series 2 of this saw secrets being exposed, students thinking about the future and an ending that's quite heartwarming. The penultimate episode saw more Scousechella secrets being spilled. And when Mia-Louise meets the guy she has been speaking to online, not only has it affected her friendship with Aimee, but she wonders how seeing him will affect her life. Christopher also tried to get tips from Jodie on his relationship with Aimee, although reeve did have the wrong end of the stick for a while (which was eventually resolved at the end), and Connor's accusation really was the talk of the town. But I’m glad Lauren and Connor were able to smooth things over after she revealed a truth, but Ella-grace misread the situation. And her texting on Lauren’s phone made her the one who needs to know what consent is. . The final episode saw Mr Meacher give a talk about the 100 year anniversary of Allsbrooke high school (even though Ella-Grace thought it was something else). Mia-Louise's date with James made her see the reality of dating an older man. Whilst it may be hard at first, kudos to her for stepping away and going after what she really wants. The event itself was an experience. Lewis' right hand man Kieron was "ya ma" this entire time, which led to the full video of Aimee kissing Reece, but then stepping back and confessing her love for Christopher. Mr Meachers pep talk to Reece also gave him the courage for the final speech, but not before an awkward encounter between Jodie and Mr Dunn (who's real name was actually Philip). But after a heart to heart, with Jodie revealing why she didn't tell Reece about the job, and Reece telling Jodie about the lack of commitment from his dad, he was able to end the day on a high with a video of the memories being made (which were quite funny), and a quote which did get me thinking, I'd say he will be remembered at the school. Although it hadn't confirmed on if Aimee's and Christopher's relationship will be back on track or of him and Reece will be friends again, but something tells me that with series 3 being commissioned, I have a feeling on what the outcome will be!

Personal:

Exercise:

This week I managed to do two gym routines and one home workout on the bike with plenty of yoga. This was due to a medical enquiry (which I'll mention in a moment), but I still managed to get some calories burnt which was the main thing!

Birthday:

This week I turned a quarter of a century aka 25. And I managed to do some wonderful stuff on this day! Here are a couple of them!

Yorkshire Wildlife Park:

On the Friday me and my dad went to Yorkshire wildlife park! And what a day it was! We saw sleepy lions, otters having a scrap, and had a cup of tea next to a giraffe. But my favourite had to be the polar bear, as they are so mesmerising to watch. And the work the park has done to make sure these lovely animals are safe is just incredible.

This was then followed by a trip to a bakery on the way back followed by a KFC later on in the day. And they were delicious, despite a technical fault with the order lol! A perfect way to end the first day of the birthday celebrations!

Macbeth:

My actual birthday consisted of watching a Shakespeare classic which a former Actors Workshop member was in. I went with some of my fellow workshop members who have helped me grow within my acting journey, and let’s just say the play itself was intense! And after a drink at Broadway cinema followed by getting a five guys and Kaspa's, I’d say that 25 has gone off to an excellent start!

Book:

This week I managed to finish The Chuckle Brothers biography/autobiography. This was a really good read, hearing the life of how this iconic duo became the icons they are today. And I’ve learnt some interesting things which have changed my mindset completely. And going into my passion show for Autism Acceptance Week, I will take it on board.

Medical Review:

This week I had my yearly medical review on my medication. All was well, but because my acne had been flaring up again recently (and the cold weather didn't do any favours), I had to ask for an extra item I previously took off. But with it nearly spring, I'm hoping the warmer weather will not only help my acne, but also my eczema which always flares up over the winter.

Darts:

This week I got two practices in, but it was only on my first practice that I got some doubles and trebles in. Sometimes that's how it goes, but as long as I have something that's all that matters!

Premier League Darts:

This week I watched more of this iconic event! I finally managed to catch Stephen bunting without having to start the programme again, and even though he’s still yet to score points, his positive mindset I think is what’s keeping him going. And he seems like a nice person off camera as well as on camera.

Gladiators:

This week saw the final years of this iconic game show. This saw the daughter of Frank Bruno compete, legend adding duel to the things he’s good at, and no points scored in powerball by our all female gladiators. Giant also took a tumble during the male games, and resulted in an injury in the process (although I did read about him having it during filming but I didn’t think it would be shown on camera), but I know this won’t be the last time we see him in the series, as I’m sure he’ll be cheering on his fellow gladiators in the sidelines and pumping them up in the locker room. Now I can’t wait for the quarterfinals to take place.

Britain's Got Talent:

This weeks addition saw a dinosaur rock band, a little girl mixing contemporary and Indian dance moves and a group that do the most ridiculous of things. I’m also not sure if KSI has a golden buzzer, but he made a really good choice for when he did. But my favourite was an act made of the members from one of the most shocking scandals in British history. Fingers crossed it gives them the chance to make sure all of those that were affected are paid and even get on the royal variety whether they win or not.

Gogglebox:

This week I managed to watch the first half of the classic show where I watch people watch telly. I do get the ladies fear of Spiders in "The Phobia Clinic: Face your Fear", and on "One Question" it did make me wonder who my partner will be if I go on a show like that... I also saw some spoilers linking to Cassie's downfall in "Coronation Street", and in Michael McIntyre's Big Show, holly Willoughby is reunited with both her first boyfriend, and the midwife who helped her with the birth if her daughter. Cringy and heartwarming at the same time!

Hard Times:

Although this week is meant to be a happy occasion, it didn't half throw a few curveballs. These included my mum not being around to celebrate this milestone of a birthday. But I know she will always be in my heart, so I've not lost her completely. But another thing that didn't help was that it was that time of the month again (ladies, you'll know what I mean). And on the first day of my birthday celebrations of all days! But I didn't let that stop me from having a good time, and lets just say along with modern medicine, being around animals does actually do you some god!

What have I learnt this week? Growing old is a privilege. I know it sounds cliche, but given what's happened to a famous Hollywood star who died at the age of 39, we should be grateful for the life we are living in now, which is what I'm doing!

See you soon for another blog. Until next time...

This is The Autistic Actress signing off :)
