Technology Game Changer, Unmasked Back on It's Feet & Witnessing The Most Dangerous Stunt!

Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. As you can see below, the burnout really did hit this week, with the early nights and the cold weather not helping! But I've managed to get through it and had an okay week this week. Here is what I got up to on the week commencing 14th October!

Professional:

Act On This First TV Role Fast Track:

Module 2 catch up:

This week I managed to complete the bonus call of Module 2. But for most of it, it was all about getting the lists of casting directors onto you X/twitter account. And because if that I’ve now got it on my list which I’m very pleased about. and I’ve also learnt that it’s who knows me in this industry, and that is key.

Module 3:

This week I managed to complete module 3 of First TV Role Fast Track. It’s amazing what the tool Ross and Petch showed me can really do if struggling to think of a scene. But my main concern is constantly relying on it to the point where I don’t come up with something initially myself. So I think it’s finding a right balance of coming up with the initial idea myself and using the secret I've learnt if I’m struggling for time. I may also need to go back on how to get permission to use a script, as it is abit if a task but not an impossible one.

Guest Speaker with Chris Stone:

This week I also got to listen to a guest speaker session with Chris stone. But this one was different, because along with the usual showreel surgery information (which is always keep to refresh yourself on), he also talked about what he does before, during and after a shoot, and what we should do as actors to help get the best possible outcome. This was really fascinating, and for most of it, it was simple things. But it’s those simple things that are key. So overall it was a really good session.

Acting Class:

This week I continued to do some work for the showcase with my acting class. This included recapping on some monologues, one of which I’ve not seen before but I loved it, and also recapping on mine. The talent in the room was impeccable and I think it’s going to be a really good. We then moved onto the adult pantomime, where we wen through it with a definite cast. It was abit of a bittersweet moment for me as because I’m away for two weeks having a bigger role would make it abit tricky to catch up on. But then again as they say there are no small roles just small actors. But then again maybe it’s probably a good thing because 1), because I have a monologue, something for abit of pop up theatre, I don’t want to overdo it (as let’s just say these past couple of weeks I was on the brink of burnout again). Reason 2, after nearly wetting myself with laughter in the first read through, I dread to think how it’ll go down in the actual performance. So maybe on that score it’s a good thing. And also my teacher did say he may combine roles. So you never know.

Short film and going to the festival circuit:

This week we finally got the film in the process of sending it to festivals. Due to my situation at my day job and my colleague loosing a really good friend in the summer, I needed that time to recharge and find the energy to send it to festivals. And we may have one already in the process of doing. I also mentioned to my colleague about the passion show idea, and as I’m writing this I now have a draft of the callout written out. It may need tweaking but I’m happy to get the ball rolling now.

Shows I Watched:

Coronation Street:

This week on the cobbles brought memories and a possible new romance. Paul’s memorial rave was definitely one to remember, and despite a bicker about Paul’s ashes, I’m glad billy and Bernie have managed to put their differences aside. But I do hope that him making a move on Todd doesn’t get exposed and taken in the wrong way. Adam also has a tricky situation with regards to Damon and if he’s being legit about the money, and I think Gail is also serious about selling the house to pay for Bethany’s medical bill. Dee Dee is still not convinced about Joel, but after seeing some spoilers she is in for a real shock.

I also admire Lisa for being really brave when helping Carla after her plea hearing, and I think that something more may come of it. I also get why Fiz kept the day if the termination a secret, but it looks like she has bigger things to worry about when hope threatens Ruby. Finally I think that Gemma being angry with kit is more than that, as I know she’s grieving for her twin.

Hollyoaks:

Hollyoaks brought in so much more drama after the aftermath of Ethan. I feel that things are about to get tense with the Blake family, but time will tell as to whnactoaully did it. I saw applets of Ste having a diagnosis of Psychosis, but on Mondays episode I get why Leela did what she did, but I also see why ste got mad, as it’s the only thing of James he carries. I can also see on Tuesdays episode that Red was trying to help Ste this time, and yes he may still carry feelings he’s treading more carefully knowing how fragile Ste is. So overall if that’s not the sign of a changed man I don’t know what is. Or so I thought. Wednesdays episode saw him make a mysterious phone call. So I wonder what that could mean?

Abe may also find himself in a pickle. As after refusing to take Cleo to hospital due to him risking being caught, he had to take drastic action. And he’s got himself in even more of a pickle when peri thought an engagement ring being for her. And Cleo is that brainwashed I can’t believe she’s letting Abe string peri along until she’s better. If the truth doesn’t come out at Christmas then there’s going to be some trouble.

Frankie also got herself in a difficult situation after discovering the truth about Dillon and baby James. Knowing the mistake she made with JJ, it was right of her to tell Dillon to get him to tell the truth to Lucas, knowing that keeping a secret will do damage in the long run. And Lucas was not happy when Dillon made a heartbreaking decision.

Doctors:

Doctors was once again another jam packed week. In “Closure”, we got to see why a colleague of Sid’s wants to retire early, and after Emma tells Zara about Graham, she is also on a mission to get Michelle to see Graham for who he truly is. In “Shadow Mother”, Emma had took it into her own hands to get Graham to reveal true colours, but it still obviously had an affect on Luca. I can’t believe that Sid is to blind to see it, as his new scanner is all he thinks about. And good on Scarlett for not only helping a lady after a mugging, but to bring her and her son back together. And her reason for leaving was heartbreaking but understandable. In “Ons of Those Days”, it was surprising but good to see them together, and so far their journey to getting there has been a rollercoaster so far. But I’m glad they managed to find him in “Brilliant Disguise”, and after finding out why he really came to Letherbridge, it is truly heartbreaking. But I’m glad with the help of Al and Emma, he’s getting the support he needs.

Eastenders:

Knowing that I need to expand on my serial drama watchlist, I restarted to watch Eastenders after not watching it for years. And boy I forgot how good it was, and not just because Mondys was directed by a creative I met a few times as seen above. Bianca will have an agony to wait for a proper diagnosis, Lauren clearly has something wrong and after researching about the  affair between Cindy and junior, I can’t wait to see what will come of it. I also did some research at to what Chelsea did to Amy, and I loved the reveal at the end, especially since her mum had a thing for her ex the previous episode. The second episode was just as intense. And did remember briefly about a character called gray and his attitude towards Chantelle (which I saw on gogglebox a few years ago), but I’m glad that Chelsea has owned up to her mistake after a grilling from Amy. Junior is clearly out to make Cindy jealous, and I don’t even blame Priya for walking away. And after researching on Nish and his attitude towards Suni previously I dread to think what he’ll do next. In Wednesdays episode, I know jack was trying to do the right thing, and that penny forgives him for not taking Chelsea, but I have a feeling she will kick him where it really hurts. I also admire teddy for putting his son Barney first after he explains Avani’s situation, as I know Sharon may be disappointed but she also gets it. And I get why eve is mad for not having Suki to come with her to her family, but I think it’s all part of Nish’s plan. Finally, Thursdays episode saw someone point out to Suki not to let Nish play tricks, even though he is dying. I also can’t wait to see what Penny has planned to get revenge on jack, and after filling Denise’s head with stuff about Jack and Stacy's fling (which I did read about online), it looks like it’s working when Denise and Jack talk about their marriage so far. I also hope Avani, doesn’t get too hooked up on Mason, but despite the talk with her mum, it’ll only push her further to him.

Heartstopper:

I finally managed to start the new series of Heartstopper and boy did I miss it. It was such an anticipating wait for Charlie to say he loved Nick, but I know they’ll have another challenge to come when Charlie realises he has an eating disorder. Isaac also may have figured out his sexuality, and I do get why Tara needs abit of space from darcy. I also praise Tao for making sure ells has the perfect summer, but she’s right in saying that he doesn’t need to try too hard in order to impress him. Episode 2 brought in alot of emotions and it really did make me teary at the end. I get why Charlie didn’t want to talk to his parents about what’s really troubling him, but nicks auntie was right to say he needs professional help. It’s also good t see Darcy's grandma being supportive of her sexuality, and I’m glad that Tao and Elle have come to an understanding.

The Power of Parker:

I’ll be honest, when I first started to watch this show I wasn’t convinced. But after watching the end of episode 1, I was immediately hooked. And episode 2 also brought in a lot of comedy, and after a brief scrap (which was hilarious), it looks like Kath and Diane will teach him a lesson or two and show him that these are two women you do not want to mess with.

Alma’s Not Normal:

This new show I started I feel I’m going to enjoy. And I can definitely see myself when I see alma. She might not be autistic but I do relate to her in the sense of getting a proper job whilst developing my acting career. The first episode saw her getting a real job, and the second episode saw her finding love whilst also working a real job. I wish I had the strength to walk away to find pastures new, but if she can do it, then so can I. I can’t wait to watch the rest of the series.

Personal

Exercise:

This week I managed to have a good week of exercise. I had to make the most of it knowing that for the next few weeks I’ll be busy with Belvoir Castle and off to watch Mamma Mia the week after. But as you can see down below I enjoyed the workout.

Online Business Mastery:

This week I started the first section of module 1. Now I’m really at the deep end, but I’m slowly but surely making progress. I think the plan going into next week is going through the other sections of module 1, explaining my situation and where I’m at so then I can go into module 2 ready and raring to go.

Strictly Come Dancing:

This week I managed to catch up on the rest of week 4 of Strictly Come Dancing! I had to watch it at lunch due to a wobble earlier (but I’ll get onto that but soon), but I liked everyone’s process so far. Pete Wicks actually did a brilliant Quickstep, I adored how the samba was challenging for Sam, and I can see why Tasha got the highest score so far. And whatever dance experience she’s had previously, my guess is the Charleston is nothing like what she has done in the past.

This weeks had alot of drama and brilliant dances. JB did a jive to a 00s classic, Jamie did a brilliant Paso Doble, and i have no words for Paul’s samba. I can also see why the rumba is a hard dance based on Pete’s scores, and following a brilliant Charleston, Tasha did well to maintain the same commitment. I also loved Sarah’s samba, and I think Miranda tips did help. I did feel for Sam and Punam, as even through their kids had faith in them, they still need to improve on their technique but I think they’re doing well. Let’s just hope they’re not at risk from the dance off. But Chris had to be my favourite, a song close to his heart and a moment where he did a solo. It may look simple but given the fact he’s blind as well just makes it more magical, and even though he was emotional he still managed to pull a joke with Craig. I have a feeling he may be the dark horse to win the competition! Let’s just hope I’m right.

Dynamo is Dead:

This week I decided to watch something I kept for a while but didn’t get round to until now. This was the brilliant show dynamo is dead. This followed the main man himself, with the real name being Steve Frayne. This was hard hitting, as it followed the iconic magician going on a journey to get rid of the dark times in his life, and starting afresh, which includes getting rid of his iconic stage name. And on this joinery it was hard hitting, as not only did he impress the public and celebrities he met with his mind blowing magic, but he also talked to those celebrities he met about their struggles and how they dealt with it. So regardless if the name is dynamo or Steven, we still love him and his entertainment no matter what. And it then finished with him being buried alive on live tv (so he could literally die if it doesn’t go to plan). And after some advice from stuntman Jonathan Goodwin (who after his freak accident has an inspiring positive attitude to life using the term stoicism), it gave him the courage to do it even more. And all I can say is the ending made me feel lost for words.

Gogglebox:

On Gogglebox this time I’ve learnt a few things. I’ve learnt that it’s not worth going to Switzerland to look youthful if I’m going through the pain Paddy did, and satayed French toast looks amazing. I also don’t know about the idea of weight loss injections and more drama just happens where it didn’t need to in Made in Bondi. I also still don’t get the solar system even after a simple example from Brian, and I wouldn’t want to get on the bad side of the police interceptors. Finally, it was wise to keep the money after using your lifelines and you have a large amount of money already, and the main character isn’t such a “Sweetpea” after seeing her childhood, and I don’t lie I’m kind of invested in the show.

Hard times:

There were a few hard times this week. The first one being at the start of the week where I got up past my alarm. I still don’t know if there’s a way to make the alarm go off continuously, but my guess is, I must’ve been tired. And in all fairness the night before I did feel my eyes go all droopy, and I don’t think the sleeping stuff has helped either. So let’s just say that I need to be careful on how much I use and if I need to use it. Also after being due to go on my female parts soon (ladies you'll know what I mean), and seeing the news on Liam Payne's death, it hit me more than I thought, leaving me isolated. It felt like when The Queen died and when Caroline Flack took her one life, as you’re grieving for someone you’ve grown up with all your life. It also left me on edge where for a moment, and whilst I don’t think anyone noticed at work, it did get much for me. But it shows that I care, and because I’ve seen One Direction from the beginning, it had more affect. And it just goes to show that still to this day yes people may assume that their life is great on the outside, it’s not always the same on the inside. But at least I had my dog to comfort me where as you can see below, she is good at cheering me up.

What have I learnt this week? Life isn’t always as glamorous as people make out to be. And after what happened with Liam Payne, we need to all be kind to each other.

See you soon for another blog. Until next time…

This is The Autistic Actress signing off :)
