Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. As we slowly head into the final month of 2024, it's safe to say its not been easy, especially since most people are getting the dreaded bug at this time of year, which as you can see below you can see I fell victim to it. But I managed to give 100% into what I had, so here is what I got up to during the week commencing 25th November.
Professional:
Acting class:
This week in my class there was abit of mixture in preparation for the open house event. We started off by playing two games. The first one being blood potato, and the second being old king cole. I’ll leave you to guess how you play them, and if there are any actors out there who have played it before, then it shouldn’t be too hard to guess. We then looked at a couple of monologues some of us were performing. It was a challenge for me (which you can see the aftermath of it as seen below), as yes it was good that there were notes that were very in depth it’d a lot to take in, and it did feel like I was going back to square 1. But this shows I’m going into that stretch zone, and that I know it’ll be worth it in the end. Finally we looked more at the adult pantomime. Yes we didn’t managed to get through all of the play, but if it comes to it, we can always improvise.
Act On This Podcast:
For this weeks Act On This podcast, I looked at how to pimp up my Spotlight profile ready for 2025 with Spotlight Success Manager Mel Brown. It was a brilliant session, and whilst I can't reveal all, it was beneficial in the sense that sometimes the littlest tricks and the hacks I didn't even know about will make or break. So along with the other bits I need to do, I have some extra ideas on how to make it better.
Shows I watched:
Eastenders:
This week I caught up on the last two episodes of Eastenders from last week. After an explosive encounter with drew peacock, Elaine managed to finally clear the air with him. but it left her wondering about her future. And I get why George would be surprised by the post nip, but he managed to get on bids with the idea. But after hearing about the honey trap, I don’t know if Elaine is going too far this time. I don’t trust this Jared Jean is calling, and I have a feeling it’ll all get tense for her this festive period. I also get why Martin would be angry for Ruby lying about the true reason as to why he can’t see their son, but the reason why he’s in hospital has only made him more determined for revenge, and I’m not sure if Stacey agrees with him or not. And finally despite a rocky start, I’m glad Peter saw the error of his ways and will support Lauren through those pregnancy. But after reading about an upcoming storyline for her, I feel she will be at risk of losing it. But on a brighter note I’m glad that Mr Lister is able to bring some good news with regards to the market.
For the week commencing 18th, it was a whirlwind! Mondays episode saw. Elaine’s honey trap in full swing, but it looks like it’s done more harm than good. And I’m glad that Roman is on the mend to getting better on his own, but Martin is still armament he’s still getting custody. Also Stacey is unsure if his motives. Lauren is also still struggling with pain and I can see why she’s hesitant on getting more painkillers. And finally, Kim gave Ravi a real talking to to get Denzel a job, which seemed to have paid off. Tuesdays episode saw the peacocks and the knights reunite George and Elaine in time for the big day, and despite Linda’s interesting speech it turned out to be a good day. But I wasn’t expecting Kojo's injuries Cindy caused after he discovered a secret between her and junior. I do hope he gets better soon! I’m also glad that Ruby apologised to Stacey for her recent behaviour, although I don’t think it’ll change martins mind about getting custody of Roman, and I know clearly that Lauren is lying about taking Amy’s old pills back. Wednesdays episode saw Cindy being sneaky when she discovers Lauren’s secret. I have read about her being abit manipulative but this is ridiculous. And after overhearing a secret, Lauren vows to make Cindy pay for what she’s doing. Martins chances of getting his name on the birth certificate may have been ruined when’s Tracey makes an error, and I can see why Denise had a fling with Ravi, as most women still love a bad boy. And I think Harvey was right in warning Jean about the investment given what’s happening. And Harvey was right, as Thursdays episode saw Jean realise she was being conned, but it was too late. I know Stacey was trying to reassure her, but I have a feeling that she’s expertly scared of what to do for her mum. Denise may also be abit jealous when Ravi and Nicola get to know each other, and I feel that Cindy is bribing Lauren with pain killers in exchange for Kojo's fall. But I’m sure Kojo will be believed when the truth does come out.
Hollyoaks:
Following the events of this years winter trailer, secrets have started to spill. Mondays episode saw the wake of Ethan commence. Jeremy decided to put his secret between Robbie and Vicky for the sake of Sienna. And he was right to do so, as after an altercation with Maxine about Sienna's whereabouts, she’s starting to settle down and believe Sienna. But a discovery from Dilly may give her second thoughts. Misbah was also in for a shock when she discovered Dillon’s secret. And despite a hesitation from Marie, she was right to let Misbah and the family have baby James for abit. Tuesdays addition saw Sienna's family second guess her innocence in Ethan’s murder, but I was surprised by the real culprit in it. But luckily she was there to help, Ste who did another runner after the maliks look after baby James, knowing they were right to do so. And I do understand why Lucas rejected Dillon as yes he still has feelings for him but he wants to do it the right way. Finally Wednesdays episode saw Leela have flashbacks which proved my possible theories of baby Clara. Dillon also feels the struggle of being a new parent, and even though Martha has dementia, she’s adamant to keep the secret to herself for the sake of Sienna. Although after looking at the trailer I can’t imagine it’ll stay a secret for long.
Show trial:
In episode 4 we saw the court case go ahead! But there was drama on and off the case, as Leilas mum took a turn for the worse whilst Tamara still won’t talk to her, and mani is understandably shocked at to how Sam has really been feeling after looking at his patio. But the court itself lacked drama, as Justin lashed out when Sandra mentioned the baby. But think Justin’s big secret may cause more further complications. The final episode had tense outcomes to heartwarming reconciliations. We got to see what really happened with the car, but I was not expecting Justin’s full confession after the trial. I’m also glad that Leila and Sam have patched things up with their families, so I hope it’ll be a fresh start after the case.
Until I Kill You:
The final episode of this brilliant show showed not only the outcome but the aftermath as well. I can understand Delia's reaction to the first outcome of John, and I’m gutted about the end of her relationship with David. But I think it’s moments like this where it needed to happen, as then after some more discoveries in Amsterdam, they finally managed to delve deeper into the case. I was also intrigued to see the police get involved on if the victim of the crime needs to be in person or pre recorded, and for Felix’s mental well-being, I’m glad they got a psychiatric assessment in. So then she could take the statement without being in court, and it worked in her favour. It was also nice to see Delia start a new job as a messuse and a photo of her in the present day of her travels. That’s when it hits you the most, when they see the real life figure of the drama.
Alma’s Not Normal.
The final two episodes of this incredible show felt more empowered than I thought. In episode 5 “NAME”, it really did hit home for me. Along with the humour of the Blackpool adventure and Alma’s stand up routine, I loved the emotional contrast with the outcome of grandma Joan. A strong episode that was both moving and had some warmth in it. Finally in episode 6 “NAME”, you could see how passionate Alma was when fighting to keep her mum out of trouble. Also we could all do with a solicitor like Jules. And after a brief talk with Jim and how Lin has used poetry and art to let out what she’s feeling, I also admire her stance when her agent told her to tone down the family talk, but she knew what she wanted to say and in some ways it’s like the retelling of Sophie William herself.
Personal:
Exercise:
This week I managed to regular routine of exercise. Although thanks to a cold I caught (which I’ll mention later on), I had to tone it down abit to avoid my body putting on so much strain. But overall I’m quite pleased with what I’ve done this week!
Rest:
This week I haven’t done much due to not being well. But the thing with rest is, it’s just as important, as then you can recharge and reboot so you can come back stronger. And with the show coming up soon, I think next week that’ll be my main priority.
Advent Calender:
As the 1st December hit, it was also the time where I got my calendar out. I'll be honest that is one of my favourite parts, as I get to have a taste of what the big day will be like, and that chocolate and confectionary is also the best part of the year. But I am being mindful not to overload myself with it, but also enjoying having that luxury whilst I can.
Shows I watched:
Strictly come dancing:
Last Sundays strictly was insane. I can see why Tasha and Aliajz got that 40, and the samba Thon was insane. And the start of Musicals Week was brilliant. Sarah opened the show in the best way possible, and Montell did an emotional rhumba. I also thought that Chris was under marked for his quickstep, and I wouldn’t have noticed Tasha’s error during her Argentine tango.
I’m a Celebrity:
Week two of the show brought on frightening challenges, friction and seeing the camp life got harder and harder. This weeks I’m A Celebrity was jam packed and I can’t believe we’re over half way. The forget bus was with it to hear Danny play some guitar, Jane and Maura conquered their fears and let’s just say that Barry and Danny’s choice of who’s doing what job made some people feel on edge particularly Jane. And speaking of jobs I feel that Dean was overreacting a little bit when it came to his, and that tike came where the vote offs began. But I think at this point it could’ve been anyone as there’s such a strong collective in camp. But in the midst of it, it was interesting to see Oti and Colleen talk about the reality of being mums and taking a break from their career to be parents
Gogglebox:
This week I managed to catch up on the rest of Gogglebox from last Friday. Ben Fogle saw a revamp of a caveman’s den in and the watchers were abit made off with the revamp itself and I can agree with them when James May managed to make a glue out if something so horrible. I also agreed when the scene between Jai and Caleb in Emmerdale was abit of a waste of time and finally I would never be able to get some of the stuff right in Only Connect.
This weeks addition of the show gave a lot of humour and joy. On “RuPauls Drag Race UK”, I loved a fathers relationship with his son during a parent and child challenge, and in “University challenge”, I i cannot stop thinking about Poisson lol! I also found Charlotte church’s music bath relaxing on “This Morning”, and I agree with the other Goggleboxers that I do not want to mess with Vinnie Jones when it comes to his farm. I was also surprised they didn’t react to one scene I was hoping for in “I’m A Celebrity”, and in “Police Interceptors”, I can see how tough the job actually is. Finally, The Yorkshire vet has done his job again in the highlands, and Pete was right in saying that “The Day of The Jackal” is not gory when there’s lots of killings. So maybe it’ll help me when I watch it.
Hard times:
I think along with the blip after my acting class which I mentioned earlier on, I think a moment this week was still the pinch in my shoulder. But the worst one was when I sadly caught my dads cold. Yep it’s that time of year where the bugs start to get to you. It left me still feeling miserable and it’s led me to make decisions which yes is not what I want to do but at the same time not causing so much strain on my body. But when there’s a problem there’s a solution, so I’m hoping I can find a solution coming into next week. But Margo's haircut followed by her new coat instantly cheered me up!
What have I learnt this week? Give 100% into what you’ve got, and if need be, particularly at this time of year when most people are poorly, take a teacher, rest and start again.
See you soon for another blog. Until next time…
