Settling For The Festive Season, Coming To The Twelfth Night & Visiting Neverland!

Hello world! Welcome back to another blog, and my final weekly highlights of 2024! Yes its that time of year again where the festivities have really kicked in, therefore I've had more rest. It's safe to say I've had a busy one! So without further ado for the final time this year, here are some of the highlights of the week commencing 9th December!

Professional:

Acting class:

This weeks acting class was a relaxing one after the events of Sunday. It went better than I expected, but because my teacher was planning some more projects like the open house  for the near future, we all gave some feedback on what we can do to make it better. A lot of us said the same thing, but for those who are reading this and we’re with me that day, I’ll leave you all to say what we agreed on! Then in preparation for theatre sports the following week (which will also be the last class of the year) we did a couple of improvisation games. And it was a good change as not only was it a form of relaxation, but it was a lot of fun.

Content:

This week I also recorded some content for my acting pages. This was one of the pieces of work I did during the Open House event, and because it wasn't recorded, I made the bold decision to re-record it as a self-tape not only to show my skills, but to also use it for future auditions. Keep an eye out on my Instagram @theautisticactress for the full recording of it!

Shows I've Watched

Coronation Street:

This week I managed to catch up on coronation street from 2nd December. It was brilliant seeing fellow Actors Workshop member Laurence James Davis smashing his role as a court clerk, grilling Leanne about their involvement with Rowan. And even though the outcome of what they’ve hoped for, it doesn’t mean that the troubles are over. As whilst Leanne is trying to convince Nick to give things another go, she’s secretly using it as her opportunity for revenge. And I fear that Nick may loose both her and Toyah, who looks as though she may have called things off. David is also struggling to keep his secret after a meeting with the Liaison officer, and Adam knows he has to put in the graft to get Alya's attention, and it may have worked already! Finally Kit could be a little bit more sympathetic towards Lauren and max, and what Chesney should’ve done is get the number plate of the man in the van and report it to the police. That would’ve made life so much easier.

Hollyoaks:

Mondays addition saw grace and the McQueen give Mercedes the motivation to attend Santas grotto (which Jeremy did a brilliant job of portraying). But grace wa soon hit on her tail when she discovers a secret linking to her and Freddie. But Freddie has his own problems after Robbie helps him with a job whilst John Paul tries to recover the CCTV footage. But it looks like he’ll be in for a real shock when Vicky makes a shocking discovery. Tuesdays episode saw the consequences for Freddie, as not only does he have grace hot on his tail after Mercedes confesses her true feelings for him, but he’s also in for a shock when Vicky reveals a secret of her own! And after initially deciding to have a termination, Frankie warning Robbie was the last thing Vicky needs. But I wonder how long she’ll keep the truth from Robbie? Theresa is also thinking about a big decision (although after reading that Jorgie porter will be on maternity leave, I think I know the answer), and it looks like Peru is all set on marrying Abe despite a disagreement about moving in. But after Cleo discovers a lie he’s been keeping during the time jump, it’s safe to say she’s finally discovered Abe's true colours! Finally, on Wednesdays episode, the tv appeal for Darren turned into a disaster when Nancy may have an MS relapse (which I predicted), but little does she know where Darren actually is. I also think that Cleo is pretending to be ill so she can get her escape from Abe in place, and Vicky has made her decision but something tells me it won’t end well.

Eastenders:

It was great to see Joe Swash back as Mickey, and he was just the person he needs to help Mo and Kim with their calendar. But little do they know that he may be in it himself… I also hope nugget doesn’t become like Nish when the violent man brainwashes him, and also Johnny feels for Ollie, especially with the state Linda is in. And despite her nearly throwing out Peggy’s old thing, I think Nicola is trying to make amends, although I do agree with teddy when he tells her about his relationship with Sharon and when to tell them about it. But she’s in for an even bigger shock when she discovers Phil’s living conditions. Tuesdays episode saw Nicola scheme in teddy’s relationship with Sharon, who is secretly worried about Phil! But with Nicola making a move on teddy and making Phil relapse possibly, she’s definitely got a dark side in her. And I do hope nugget won’t end up like Nish, and as he explained why he is the way he is (although it’s no excuse for how he’s treated Suki) I hope he doesn’t follow in his grandads footsteps. I also hope that Linda will get the help she needs following a break in at Sharon’s place (although Bernie goading her isn’t helping), and finally I’m gutted seeing Mickey go already. But mind you like joe swash, he’s doing bigger things beyond the square. And his part in the calendar has actually helped him in the long run. Wednesdays episode saw Lauren turning to Cindy again for some more pills, but something tells me that it won’t be the last time she needs them. Sharon is also not impressed with Nicola for setting Phil up, but jay is trying to see he’s not alone, which I don’t think even that has helped. I don’t know if he’s raised to show no emotion in fear of looking weak, but he should know of all people that it’s not shameful to ask for help. But the main concern was Linda and her drinking, as not only did it ruin Sharon’s sons bedding but it’s affecting those around her, like insulting Alfie’s personal issues, and making a scene at Beales eels Christmas grotto (although I bet Cindy was glad to miss it despite doing the dirty again). And you would think a chat with Lauren and Phil would do the trick, but Johnny could see it was just an act. And you know what I don’t blame him for getting angry at her, and even Bernie’s forgiveness didn’t seem to help her. Finally, Thursdays episode saw Elaine see the full extent of Linda’s drinking, with the stranger who came out of the kids bedroom being the last straw. And Elaine has really put her foot down with Linda, and after seeing spoilers I feel it won’t end well for her. It’s not just her who’s having a hard time though. Jay can see that Phil is struggling even though he won’t admit it, and Lauren’s addiction to the painkillers is definitely taking its toll again. And I don’t think chucking them away will solve anything. Finally, I get why Ruby decided to keep Martin away but she’ll need him now more than ever after the news about romans steroids, and what this will mean for the transplant.

Personal:

Rest:

After the weekend being a busy one, I spent most of it resting and recuperating! And you know what I don’t even feel bad about it. Yes I didn’t go to the gym again this week but I did plenty of yoga and had one day on the exercise bike and doing a home workout. So at least I didn’t not do anything! And also the dog made sure I got plenty of rest!

Theatre Visit:

This week I went to watch Twelfth Night at the National Youth Theatre with fellow actor and legend Leo long! This is both professional and personal as it’s a play I saw that I hope to one day be in, but it’s also helped me gain some of rest and helped me enjoy some theatre! I’ll be doing a full review of the show during the holidays, but overall a good day it was and it was a good day needed. And of course I had to get some goodies whilst I was there!

Pantomime:

Like Twelfth Night, this is kind of a professional thing but also a personal thing to help me get into the Christmas spirit! And boy it did help me and my friend from my acting class who came with me. I love Pantomime, especially at this time of year, and to see Paul Chuckle live in the flesh was also a brilliant experience! I’ll be doing a full review of the show and posting it over the holidays so anyone reading this can have something to look forward to in the new year, but let’s say it’ll be a positive one to look forward to. And of course I had to get some delicious food from the market. Yes it was abit expensive along with some ornaments from the market, but it was worth it!

Shows I watched:

Strictly Come Dancing:

Even though I knew who would get through to the final, I thought I had to watch it to help me get some energy! And I’m glad I did! And I hope he does as I predicted the dances he would do in the final (which is quite scary actually), so I’m hoping he’ll take the title!

The final of the show was epic. It had all, from Vito’s wardrobe malfunction to an emotional reunion from Tasha’s brother! It also saw JB showing his love for dance in the Samba and Chris’ Waltz and the VT for his Showdance had me in tears. I won’t say who won but let’s just say my predictions were good ones...

I’m A Celebrity:

The end of the popular show was just epic! It may have been the best cyclone I’ve seen in a long time, and Danny's secret mission to get some ice creams for camp was a brilliant way to end it. And the final was a little bit different but also epic. I food tell it was the toughest one yet for Colleen, but like a trouper, she, Danny and Reverend Richard managed to complete it and win their final meals (which looked scrumptious). But I’m glad the person who I thought would win the show did, and I must've realised I'd be a mind reader at this point lol.

Gogglebox:

As always the Goggleboxers reacted to anything and everything, and some of them were Christmas related. I agree with some of them when a version of Santa Baby was not the best, and I’m in agreement with them when I wonder if there’s anything Jamie Oliver can’t cook. I would also never get the 1% question, and I’m just as shocked as then wine Kiera Knightly has a dark secret in “Black Doves”. I was also wondering if after doing my research, the video of Cliff Richard and his gravy making was of Artificial Intelligence, and I could never do a wheelie on a tractor. Finally, I couldn’t quite get over how little the Goggleboxers knew about Henry VIII, and I don’t want my future child to have a phone until they’re at least 15.

Hard times:

I would say the hard times for me were that my fitness levels were off balance due to resting from a hectic weekend. And lets just say I got the nibbles on ALOT of sweet treats this week, which you'll have seen earlier in this blog. But never the less it's that time of year where everyone is binging on the sweet stuff, so as least I'm not the only one who's doing it. But it was also the time of year where the hormonal side kicked in. Yes ladies if you're reading this, you know what I'm on about. But at least it has happened this week and not during Christmas itself.

What have I learnt this week? Well for this week and going into the festive season and into the new year, It's okay to have rest! Yes it's important to be one step ahead of everyone especially at this time of year, but it's also important to take the time to spend it with those around you and be in the moment. That for me is the main thing I will take away this week!

And that's it for my weekly highlights of 2024! To all of my readers, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, but keep an eye out for other pieces of content throughout the holidays. These including pieces of theatre I saw, TV shows I've watched if anyone needs a good binge, and films I saw this year if anyone is looking for a good one to watch over the festive period/going into the new year (Any any recommendations of what to watch next from you guys would also be brilliant).

See you soon for another blog and have a happy holidays! Until next time...
