Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. During the week of Remembrance Sunday and also during the week also known as Guy Fawkes night, there was definitely fireworks on the go! So here is what I got up to on the week commencing 4th November.
Professional:
Applying for jobs:
This week I got back on looking at Spotlight and Mandy to see what other amazing acting jobs are on offer. Yes I missed a few due to being busy the past few weeks, but sometimes you need to get rid of the food to make room for the great. I also had to renew my spotlight profile this week. Yes it costs money. If it’s all part of my acting career, as a lot of the well known industry professionals will post their jobs on there.
Script:
This week I developed my script for a competition on the BBC writers room. Now that the submissions are open ideally I need to get this script to its final draft before the deadline. And after adding in an extra section in it, I can’t wait to get it submitted. But not before I get at least one person to look at it for some feedback and make sure it fits within the rules of the competition.
Acting class:
This week in my acting class we continued to work on our material for our open event on 8th December. For me it as more of a sit down session, as because I was off I don’t have much involvement in the pantomime. But that in a way is a good thing as well. Because not only will I just wet myself with laughter (as the show itself does contain a lot of adult humour), but I’m doing other stuff in the show. Including a Shakespeare monologue and an appearance with a little yellow bear with black ears, as seen below. And I think my teacher liked it, and will be a brilliant piece of pop up theatre.
Act On This podcast:
This weeks Act On This session was with no other than legend screen writer Danny Brocklehurst. I won’t give away all of the secrets, but I admired his journey to get to where he is, and I now definitely need to binge watch brassic. And I also need to email Sonia Allan, but as long as I watch at least one series or clips of the show, I can then mention it in the email to show I’ve done my research.
Coronation Street:
This week I was there Coronation Street from 28th and 30th October. There are definitely more suspects on the case for Joel Deering’s murder. Lisa definitely looked shifty after the bruises Betsy noticed, but after explaining to Carla what really happened, I can understand why she decided to keep it a secret. But I wonder what really happened with Carla on the night of the murder. But that’s not the only drama happening. After sacking chesney following the bad health inspection, Dev got into Bernie’s bad books once more after he dealt with Paul’s ashes. And you know what I don’t even blame her for walking out when he got down on one knee for the quadruplets birthday. Finally I really thought Cassie and Steve were really going to make something of it after after cassies date dumped her, but after Adam raised concerns, it looks like a short lived romance. And whether Cassie was intentionally fleecing Ken or not, I can feel her upset when Steve mentioned her past. Kit is also being abit sneaky with Ryan, so I wonder why he’s so interested in what Daisy likes? I have a wild guess even without watching the next episode yet? And I was right, as 1st November saw kit trying to get some alone time with Daisy, and after a tip off from Jenny, Ryan was not happy. But kit had bigger things on his mind when Lisa accused him of making a complaint. But when it was revealed to be Betsy, I can see her reasoning why, as after Carla told her the truth about what happened to her mum, yes there was abit of tension but in the long haul it’s better to have it out now than later on. But they weren’t the only ones who had drama. Billy was adamant he was ready to go back to work, but even though he decided to step down from his role, the bishop was right in saying he needs to grieve as well. And after seeing spoilers, I have a feeling that he’s not keen on Paul’s space launch (which dev kindly helped out on despite being abit frosty with Bernie). But there could be some luck for one character, as Mason did a good thing for Liam, and after dev noticed it, Gary was both surprised and released about it, and it’s a good job Chesney was able to back him up.
Hollyoaks:
Hollyoaks as always brought all the drama. Mondays episode saw Frankie reach breaking point, but managed to make things right with Lucas after a pep talk from jack. But it looks like the Osbornes have bigger things to worry about when they get an update on Darren. Yes I can see why Nancy is coping the way she is but eventually it will eventually lead to all her emotions coming out! So maybe jack is right to encourage her to show abit of concern. I can also imagine how Mercedes will feel when the drugs grace got her turned out to be fake, and Leela could be in the worst possible situation at the moment. But with Joel distracted on Cleo’s whereabouts, I wonder if the truth will be revealed. I get why Leela is upset about it but I think she’ll feel the same when the truth is revealed. Tuesdays episode saw Leela be in an awkward position when she goes into labour early. Even though she appreciates Abe being there for her little does she know his true intentions. And I was right when once again abes manipulation resurfaces. And it’s got to a point where Cleo has turned into the psycho ex, but I blame him on that one. Leela also seemed abit emotional, and after seeing spoilers I can see why. I also feel for Mercedes and understood why she needed the drugs for her cancer feeling the need to be in control. But after some convincing fro grace and misbah, she decided to go for the alternative. I also understood why Nancy told a lie to Frankie and Oscar, but sooner or later she will have to tell them the truth if the worst comes (which I hope it won’t). Wednesday saw Abe literally about to do the worst, but she stopped him just in time. How will he explain himself this time? Leela is also hiding a secret of her own with regards to the baby. I have two options if what they are but I’ll wait till it plays out to see if I’m right. I’m also glad that Mercedes has friends like grace and Freddie to help her out for when she starts her treatment, and I can get why Vicky is furious with Robbie when she finds out the truth about the burglary. And my guess is, he’ll be furious when she gets Freddie involved with Lexi again.
Doctors:
This week the penultimate week really got me going. In “Unsustainable”, I’m glad Emma and Michelle are in good terms, but I’m also intrigued how Michelle didn’t flip when Emma mentioned Graham again. Mmmmm… I was also glad Rosie was able to help a regular patient get his priorities right and be honest with his wife, all whilst trying to get her sustainability survey noticed. . I also hope that Graham going behind Bears back is the start of revealing his true colours to the staff. In “Alpha”, the Doctective was back once again, this time talking about toxic masculinity. and now after this episode Al definitely needs his own spin off show, as he’ll make a fine career of himself making these wonderful podcasts. And I loved how this episode was structured as they got the points on misogyny across well but because it’s a day time show they made sure it wasn’t too horrific. And the actors did an amazing job of portraying the story well. In “If You Go Down To The Woods Today”, Rob and Ruhma definitely had a first date to remember. And I’m glad that Ruhma was so understanding about why the place they went to was special to rob, and they even helped out the leader of the activity who very nearly gave up on his dreams. I also think that Michelle had a hint of why Graham was so horrible to Luca, and I agree with her to not work with Graham when Zara is her closest friend, and doesn’t want to go behind her back despite being ill. And even though the end is nearing having Michelle fired is not how I wanted it to go. And Al was not happy with Graham for using what he said about Lucas past to tip him over the edge. I think I have a small feeling on how this will end, and I think bear is acting out of character due to that same feeling. Finally, in “The Price of Everything”, Luca definitely saw the full experience working in a private hospital. And despite a telling off from the nurse he was shadowing, he appreciated the hard work and the talk with one of his patients. I’m also glad that he’s put his differences aside with Zara. But I think Michelle and Emma are worried about what Graham will do next, and I think the same goes for bear, Al and Jimmi. And I honestly couldn’t watch the altercation between Scarlett and Graham, and I had to skip it as after getting a sneak peak it was too horrific. I just hope before next week Scarlett will tell the truth about what really happened. And I’m not buying maggies sob story. And that’s coming from someone who struggles to read people’s emotions. So I hope rob will be able to see through her sneaky plan once and for all.
Eastenders:
Following the downfall of Nish, the aftermath definitely had a lot to talk about. On Mondays episode. Kim was in full blogger mode, and Priya is literally clueless on what to do next, but I do feel for Avani as she witnessed what’s happening. I also hate harry and teddy for thinking they know what’s best for Barney when he came back, but I dread to think what their next plan is. I’ve also heard about Reiss being up to no good, and Bianca was right to be suspicious. I would love to see what happens next. Denise also somehow feels abit guilty and after a rocky start, Kat is slowly but surely making up with the rest of the slater family. And Freddie was right in saying that Alfie still has feelings for Kat. Tuesdays episode saw Kim’s blog becoming too much for Avani, and after fooling Martin, Bianca was able to find out from teddy what really happened to the CCTV footage and managed to catch him out. So I wonder how he’ll worm his way out of this one? I also think that Harry’s approach with Barney has only made the situation worse, and I can see why he and penny get along, which I think makes them more dangerous than ever when penny reveals what she’s got planned next. I’m also glad that the social meeting went well and even though Tommy didn’t give much away, it’s a start. I’m also glad Alice and Kat have had a moment of passion, as after a mistake on Kat thinking she got with someone else, I can imagine the relief when he found out he was wrong. Wednesdays episode saw Alfie backing out of a reunion with Kat. I get why after the previous episode, but after pep talk from Freddie (who is just pure it when it comes to romance), and Ian for Alfie, and Stacy and Jean for Kat, they realised they needed each other now more than ever. And bonfire night was the perfect moment for it to happen. I also think that Jack is in deep water with Harry, still having no idea penny is involved. And I have seen some spoilers on Bianca exit, and after falling for the sob story from reiss, it looks like that she too is in danger. I just hope she’s okay. Thursdays episode saw Alfie worry about some personal problems after his battle with cancer. I did read about that before i watched the show again, but I can only image in what he just be going through after that. And Kim over exaggerating it (when it was clearly something else) didn’t help at all. But thankfully Kay and Alfie managed to solve it and along with an interesting present from Mo, it’s only made them stronger. Jack is also on edge where after rushing to get Amy to her appointment and then doing a job for Harry, he may be in too deep to back out now. And I still can’t wait for the reaction when he finds out penny’s involvement as well. And after a grilling from Martin and Callum, Reiss may be under pressure to not let his secret come out. But Bianca definitely won’t give up without a fight, but Reiss’ way to do that is very out there.
The Power of Parker:
The last two episodes of The Power of Parker were immense. In “white goods”, the plan was on to get revenge on Martin. It was quite funny what Diane did to his toothbrush, but I can’t imagine what Kathy must be feeling when she saw her sister distracting Martin. And I must say I love Gladys roasting him when he came looking for his kettle. In “Dynamite”, the battle to get the shareholders was really on. And despite a set back with regards to Diane’s intentions from the previous episode, the sisters managed to expose Martin for who he really is. and maybe it was good thing the building was rebuilt, but I wonder how if there is a season 2, will Diane find out about Martin and Katy’s secret again?
Alma’s Not Normal:
This week I finally managed to catch up on the last two episodes of series 1 of Alma’s Not Normal. In “On Records”, I could see that the trauma of Alma being in and out of care has definitely got to her. And after a complaint from her client it’s literally tipped her over the edge. Whilst there were moments where it was funny, got can tell she was in pain. But I’m glad she managed to use that energy into her audition (where the casting director resonated with her story), and it looks like her dreams are about ti become a reality. Or so she thought. In “Sticking With”, Alma very nearly gave up on her dream. But after seeing her grandma and mum give up on theirs, she was very close to doing the same. But I think her mum doing a runner really gave Alma a reality check. And I’m also glad she wasn’t getting back with Anthony, and Leanne really chipped in as the best friend she and we all need! I hope that when I come to watch series 2, things will continue to grow for Alma. But after seeing spoilers something tells me it’ll be far from perfect.
Personal:
Exercise:
This week because the gym was closed for refurbishments I had to compromise on exercise. So I did this by doing some home workouts m suggested by high performance minder coach Matt hall and three 20 minute sessions on the exercise bike. So I managed to get my exercise in despite the gym getting closed.
Surveys:
This week I got to do some more surveys. This was a part of my self care routine at the weekend, and despite most of them not being applicable or hardly getting any points, it was quite satisfying. This is another example of self care which is not too stressful but you still have something to do, as I’m someone who can’t just do nothing.
Darts:
This weekend as part of my self care routine I binged watched on the grand slam of darts. This is where you’ll see my true authentic self where you’ll see why it’s a hyper fixation for me, as there’s something about this entertaining sport that makes me feel better if feeling abit down! And I’ve got a whole week of this to come as well! So god knows how I’ll get anything done next week lol!
Remembrance Sunday:
This Sunday was the day to honour those who risked their lives to fight for our country. And at my day job we had a two minute silence to commemorate those. IT's moments like this where you definitely feel in the present, and as I looked around the room it was a beautiful moment to see. It may be 110 years ago since the first world war, but its a moment where we won't forget those people. Ever.

Shows:
Strictly come dancing:
This week I found out that the two celebs in the dance off the Sunday before was a tough one, which just goes to show that at this point it could’ve been anyone. It icons week ended beautifully with Tasha’s Couples Choice and Shayne's Quickstep to the Beatles!
This weeks show saw the battle for Blackpool commence. Everyone brought their a-game, so at this point anyone could leave. But my highlights would be Sarah Hadland doing the American smooth to proud, Pete Wicks doing an amazing couples choice and Jamie and Michelle doing a very saucy Argentine tango. And despite having to change partners, JB did an amazing samba.
Gogglebox:
This week the Goggleboxers reacted to more brilliant weird and wonderful shows, and because of the darts, I only got chance to watch the first half of it. What I’ve learnt is that I don’t want to be married the first time I’ve seen someone if after 4 weeks things get tense and that I can’t fix it, and that mudskippers are very fascinating creatures. I also never knew there was a forum for dull men, and after watching “This Morning”, I think my dad could take some inspiration from what the models are wearing and why.
Hard times:
This week I think the only thing for me was just the tiredness from being busy as seen below. But I solved this problem by having the weekends after to relax and do little to hardly anything. As with Christmas coming up and our open event to do as well, rest is key for me so I have plenty of energy for the rehearsals and the night itself. I also made an appointment at my local doctor about an enquiry which I spoke to them before about a few months ago. Now when it comes to health, after my mum passing away from cancer, I do feel I’m turning into a hypochondriac sometimes, and going on Google does not help. But after telling to doctors about what I think caused the problem last time, if I mention it again they’ll be able to give me some more advice on what to do next. And I also know that if it was worse my problem would’ve spread by now. But I’m sure it’ll be okay, as after doing my self examination everything else seemed fine. I think another moment was having one of my ideas cut from the open event, which was pre recorded. As I’m writing this I can now see why it had been cut, and that was due to time and also showing other people’s work. But I had an idea to tweak it and post it on my acting page for Christmas. But as always I had my dog to look after me, who needed abit of looking after herself after bonfire night and some air bombs took place this week.
What have I learnt this week? This one is for those who are autistic but can also imply to anyone who’s not autistic as well! Have a day (or in my case an afternoon), where you can truly unfilter yourself, surround yourself in your special interests and do what makes you happy!
See you soon for another blog. Until next time…
This is The Autistic Actress signing out :)
