Becoming A Dancing Queen, Luna's New Makeover & A Spooky Self-Tape Challenge

Hello world! Welcome back to another blog. It may be the half term for most of us, but that doesn't mean that I was not busy. This week saw me falling more in love with the arts more than ever! Want to know why? Then without further ado here is what I got up to from the week commencing 28th October 2024!

Professional:

Sketch:

This week I finally finished my Sketch for Halloween! Once again this is a Miranda Hart style one and I can’t wait for you all to see it! Please see the link here where you can see what I usually get up to on Halloween: https://youtu.be/gvMClV3lPoE?si=K4ZXJ4OrdxpfI7xP

Petch’s Self Tape challenge:

This was a very last minute thing but after abit of a break I took on another one of Petch’s self tape challenge. At first I struggled to think of one but after getting up early on the morning of an acting job (which I’ll get onto soon), I finally thought of one. Please see the link here and let me know which film you think it’s from: https://youtu.be/57hqgChVdiY?si=ifqVRHLHrPi0_FYh

Act On This:

Showreel Surgery:

This week I managed to catch up on the final showreel surgery of the year. I won’t give away too much of what I’ve learnt, but I’ve managed to gain some more useful knowledge and refreshed myself on the simple yet most effective points to make my showreel pop!

Belvoir Castle:

This week I was also back at Belvoir castle for my second and also last day. As you can see below Luna got abit of a makeover and she had a few interesting encounters, one of which is making me wonder "How do you tell a toddler you have Autism?". I will miss this wonderful witch, as there’s something about Halloween that really makes me feel at home! And why I love acting so much as I get to express myself through characters like Luna. I’m going to miss playing her so much, but I know that this won’t be the last I see if her.

Invites To Show:

This week I sent out some more invites for the actors workshop open event. Whilst I got some replies to say they can’t come I’m still grateful that I they took the time to look at it. I do hope at least one of my invites can come but never the less I will try and send them what I did on the night!

Shows I watched:

Coronation Street:

This week I caught up on Corrie from the week commencing 14th October! I’m gutted that Stu has left, but all good things must come to an end I suppose. I also wonder if Mason was telling the truth about his new job? I’m also surprised that Daisy encouraged Bethany to call Daniel, but knowing how much it’s affected her, I think the last thing Daisy wants to do is hurt her more. And the mystery with regarding to Joel’s murder is getting more and more tense. Ronnie lies haven’t choke unnoticed by Debbie, and Dee Dee is looking abit shifty especially when a flashback shows her looking guilty. I also think that mason would be to obvious of a suspect, but it seems that luck isn’t on his side at the moment. I also feel for Gemma as even though she’s still grieving she’s adamant she’s ready to go back to work. Let’s just hope I’m right, as I can imagine that a twin is a bind which is very special. And after seeing spoilers Bobby may be in for a few surprises with regards to max and Lauren. I also know that Jesse is up to something, but again after seeing spoilers Sarah may be in even more danger than she thought. I also caught up on 21st October. I can get why Bobby is feeling the way he is after max and Lauren reveal the truth, but I can also see why Lauren and max decided not to tell him as they didn’t want to hurt their feelings. But like the true friend he is Bobby is keen for max and Lauren to give things a go. I also know that it’s going to be a long road ahead for Bethany with her stoma bag, but that’s not the only thing she’s needs to worry about. With a robbery taking place I was surprised by who actually took Damon’s money. Dee Dee was also getting abit shifty, and I also feel for Gemma as even though the other residents didn’t mean to deliberately make Gemma upset, I get why she did. Let’s just hope things don’t take a turn for the worse. This was then followed by episodes from 23rd and 27th. I’m glad that max and Lauren are back together as they both deserve some happiness. And I know max will be a brilliant step dad to Frankie. I’m also glad Gemma was able to understand chesneys mistakes whilst she was away, and we all need a friend like Rita to save the day. But after a disastrous health inspection which Kirk was present for it can only go downhill for chesney. I get also  Sam was frustrated with Nick but I’m glad he made up with toyah in the end. And she was right to tell Nick that there will never be a perfect timing, so I wonder how everyone will react when she and Nick come clean about their relationship. The platts were also in for a shock when Gail was rushed to hospital. Mind you even though she insisted it’s not because of the house, I don’t think the family and Jesse arguing was helping. Even though Sarah heated from Damon himself that she’s out of the picture, I dread to think how everyone will react to more news from Gail and Jesse when they share their announcement. You also do not want to mess with Dee Dee as after a grilling from kit she is definitely hot on her heels. Finally I’m glad that Daniel understood why Bethany was shocked but I hope she knows not to push everyone away. As it’s moments like this where she needs all the support she can get.

Hollyoaks:

This weeks addition saw more drama especially after seeing spoilers. Mondays episode saw JJ taking a turn for the worse after leaving a letter for Frankie. But she’s left with even a bigger excision after Darren breaks some heartbreaking news. I also get why Vicky is mad after Misbah finds out the truth and Mercedes and graces secret may be under threat. Tuesday saw Frankie confronting JJ on her trauma he caused. And I loved the performances from both incredible actors, but just when it looks like Frankie wants answers, JJ may be in critical danger. Also despite Robbie scaring off the loan shark, Donny and Misbah still have their debt to pay. But I think Robbie is hiding a secret of his own. But the question is what is it? And I’m glad that Mercedes has finally got what she needs from Grace. But after looking at spoilers things may get heated between the two. Finally, Wednesdays episode saw Darren struggling to cope with everything. I saw some clips about his mental health in the past, and I do hope that it doesn’t relapse again. Especially for Frankie’s sake, who after finding solace in alcohol again, makes a drunken mistake. I also get why Leela is annoyed about Joel hearing about Cleo, but he has every right to be worried.

Doctors:

This weeks addition of Doctors was epic, and with the series nearing the end, it’s clear now that Graham will play a big part in it. In “Isolation”, Graham had to step in when Zara gets herself in a difficult situation. I hope it doesn’t end badly for Zara, but given it’s the end of the show soon you never know. Scarlett was also able to help a young girl stand up to her mother, and whilst I can’t say specifically what, I do understand why she’s doing it, and it’s all based on their limiting beliefs and passing it onto their children. In “Little Triggers”, Rob and Michelle were in for a surprise when they found out a dark secret from a young girl! And a good job on Isabelle smith for bringing out her dark side, as I had a dodgy feeling about her character and that feeling was right. In “Sweet Child”, rhuma helps a young couple after the wife’s secret on her past, as despite a shock from the husband he was able to stand by his wife when it mattered. Graham has also made his mark and it looks like Zara is blinded by what he’s truly capable of, and it may tear her friendship with Emma apart. Finally in “Leap Of Faith”, Emma and Zara finally managed to make up in the end, and even helped Zara when she had a panic attack. Rob was also in a surprising situation when a mother would go to extreme lengths to get her son the help he needs, and you know what I don’t blame the dad for kicking off. I also can’t wait to see what the foraging trip rob and rhuma haha got coming up. I also appreciate Scarlett for taking up Lucas' side, and even though Bear needed to end the situation, Sid was definitely surprised. So I wonder if he will soon discover his true colours before the show ends.

Eastenders:

The streets of Walford was once again full of drama! Mondays episode saw Jean feeling the pressure, and unintentionally upsetting Kojo. But I’m glad they made up, and Kojo seems like such a sweetheart. But after Kat is still bothering Alfie with the socials, I can only imagine how much bother Jean will be in when she reveals the truth. Nish also used the opportunity to get Suki to talk, and I did read about the death of Keanu, but I actually wonder if Linda was saying is true and how Nish will go about this now. I also saw Martin hearing from honey and Billy about saving the market, and even though I’ve not seen the show properly for years, I know that the market is an iconic place on our screens. Tuesdays episode saw Nish making Suki bring the 6 ladies together after threatening her, as he knew everything. I heard about this, so after doing some research and seeing the power Nish has, it's definitely gripping to watch. And Suki's proposition for his silent was a mad one to say the least. Martin was also furious when he discovered Juniors' link to the market reducing the number of days it can be open for, and we all need a friend like Kojo when Kat criticised Jean. Harvey May also have a big decision to make after a failed attempt to impress Jean and a pass from Kathy. Wednesday saw Suki reveal her plan about Nish, fooling everyone, even her own family, and little do they know what he’s heard. Martin also has a fight on his hand to keep the walford market going, and even though Freddie and Bianca aka the ADHD crew tried to help, it looks like they need more than signatures. I can also get why it’s hard for Kat, but her disowning Jean is not helping especially knowing that Stacy knew as well. And Harvey was right into not telling her about Kathy making a pass at him, as now is not a good time. But I’m hoping jeans luck will change after receiving some money from her last job. Finally Thursdays episode was finally the day where Nish’s true colours were shown. And after her experience with Mason, I praise Avani for standing up to her grandad and making her see sense after he attacked Suki. And even though the streets may be rid of him, it’ll take a while for her to get over the trauma he has given her. So I wonder if she’ll still go ahead with the wedding to Eve? But on a lighter note I am pleased that Kojo is enjoying his first Halloween in the Vic.

Heartstopper:

This week I managed to catch up on the last few episodes of Heartstopper. In the episode “Body”, we got to see how Charlie developed after seeing his therapist Geoff. Despite an argument with Nick, it’s only made them closer, and he was even able to use his exercises to help Tara, after suffering from a panic attack. And when it came to the art of intimacy, I’m glad that Nick was so understanding, and with the help from Geoff, I’m sure Charlie will overcome his insecurities. Although I did feel sorry for Elle when she got asked for a radio interview, and I hope this doesn’t knock her confidence. It was also great to see an appearance from Jonathan Bailey who played Charlie’s hero’s, and I agree with him when he and Nick say he’s hot. In “Together”, I had to feel for Nick and Charlie when they tried to get a minute alone together. I also felt for Mr Farouk when he suggested to Charlie about applying for head boy, as we got to see that his childhood wasn’t easy for him. I’m also glad that Darcy is discovering who they are and that Tara is supportive, and Tao is literally boyfriend material, as after Elle's interview nightmare, he literally showed her how special she is, and is willing to learn more. I also think that Charlie’s argument with his mum only brought him and Nick closer, some would say to “second base”. And finally in “Apart”, I got to see the reason why Charlie’s mum is the way she is, but I’m glad they made up in the end. And because I don’t know if there is another series, it’s good to know the outcome of the characters. Tara possibly may be taking a leaf out of Darcy's footsteps, Imogen wanting to learn more about her sexuality, and Charlie encouraging Tori to be more open with others. I did read from the book abit her possible sexuality but it’ll be great to see what the audience think of it. I can also see that Tao will also be there to support Elle whatever decision she makes and whether they decide to go to different universities or stay nearer, I know that Nick and Charlie will be together for the end of time!

Personal:

Mamma Mia:

This is both professional and personal but this week I went to watch Mamma Mia: The Musical in London (As part of it was for a day out but to aso keep my ove of the arts aive). Yes I did get abit overwhelmed at first (which I’ll explain in the hard times at the end of this blog), but once I settled in I managed to turn into one of the dancing queens! Watch this space for a full review if this incredible show in a future blog, but we ended the day with a lovely pizza at a fancy restaurant (where it was someone’s birthday) and I loved it! And we even had dinner at a very fancy restaurant afterwards. It's safe to say they had delicious food and it was a brilliant day!

Exercise:

Like last week this week I fell back on the exercise due to being busy. But I managed to maintain some yoga and go on my dads exercise bike. I also did a home workout before my day job which was definitely needed.

Surveys:

I only managed to do a few surveys but I count that a a win at the end of the day. When I did my final one at the end of the week it felt like I was in the sun in a beautiful hot country. That’s when you know that your self care plan is working. I really should have a day like that more often.

Shows I've Watched:

Strictly Come Dancing:

Spooky week came to an end and I was surprised to see the person leave but at this point I could be anyone’s game. All I can say is that Sarah and cutis Argentine tango would be tough to beat and Sam and Nikita's jive to the time warp was a showstopper. Yes there was an error slightly but I loved her characterisation throughout it. and Nikita did look good in his costume as well lol. Saturdays also saw the start of the “Icons Week”. So far everyone has been amazing, and moments like JB's couples choice was epic, and Wynne Evans' has a powerful set of lungs! But my favourite moment was definitely when Miranda Hart came in to support Sarah! I think that the choreography sessions on her Instagram have been helping massively lol!

Gogglebox:

Gogglebox once again had some great stuff! All I can say is I felt bad for Myles on "Deal or No Deal" as she seems like such a sweetheart, and I don’t think I’d want to be on a show where someone asked me to marry them. There was also some surprise appearances on The Wheel and on “National Parks from Above”, they do have some weird activities in Iceland. I also think that "Sweetpea" is just getting better and better as it goes on, and I was so shocked by the comments made about Kamala Harris during the presidential election. I also discovered that there’s a difference between being a mummy’s boy but then getting too clingy. Finally I need to try those exercises instead of getting a drug to help tone me up.

Hard times:

I think some hard moments for me this week was when I was in London. With it being a big city I forgot how busy it was therefore overstimulating. But once I got settled in I thoroughly enjoyed the day. I also found out that one of my taxi drivers was retiring. Whilst I didn’t blame him it was also unexpected. They also said that it’s a possibility that they may not do Saturdays anymore, but as I'm writing this, they said that it is possible. All I can say is even if they couldn't, thank god the company I use are reliable. As not many people are like that. Finally, as it was the bonfire weekend, my dog Margo was abit distraught, and as you can see below I had to look after her. But as I'm writing this, she seems to be her normal self, which is a pain in the bum lol!

What have I learnt this week? For autistic people in particular, change where it’s inevitable will be hard, but it’s how you deal with it that counts. And as I head into a new week, I think I’ve found my method.

See you soon for another blog. Until next time…

This is The Autistic Actress signing off :)
